Hi All,

This post is really more about the maker than his exceptional product. Though, I shot a few pics too.

I just received my Burt Foster Tornado Relief Knife. After the tragedy of the tornado struck near Burt's home in Virginia, he volunteered his help to those affected by the disaster. In an a selfless manner, that would come as no surprise to those who have dealt with Burt, he offered to make 5 of his personal utility knives for people who would send funds to one of the hard hit victims. Burt donated his time, talent, and materials entirely to that cause. You can read the details below.

For the moment, I am happy just to admire this characteristically well made chopper. Integral design, tapered tang, sharp enough to cut a paper towel, and perfectly balanced. Feels perfect in the hand. I can't say enough about the obvious care and quality Burt puts into his knives. I can say that Burt's character trumps the fantastic cutlery he crafts.

I remember when Burt posted those up - what a great gesture on his part - and what a terrific chopper! Congrats to you. I bet it feels extra good to know that the funds went to help good people in need.

So is this one you're going to beat on, or just have and hold? It sure looks like it wants to work.

A nice gesture by Burt and an amazing looking knife. It looks so comfortable and powerful... Man...
Cool box too.

Guys thanks for the kind comments - kudos go to Burt. I don't know if he made the box, or not, but it is very solid. It does indeed feel powerful - spine is 1/4" at the guard with a nice distal taper.

What a great gesture and great knife by Burt!

A buddy and I planned a trip to eastern TN to the W.F. Moran hammer-in/exhibit and Burt graciously invited us to stop by his shop. Days before the trip the tornado struck. When we arrived at his shop Burt had just returned from helping some of the victims and told us of the damage. Burt showed us around his shop and his current projects and his personnel chopper that knife is a copy of that he used to help clear trees and debris.

He is a great human being for sure!

Very cool to help someone out while at the same time scoring an absolutely awesome knife. Well done!
