Some weeks ago I posted some photos here of a black-lipped pearl slipjoint with two blades by Jack Busfield.

I decided to go the whole way.... and here it is now, engraved with fine English Scroll by Simon Lytton.

Indeed it is.

Frankly, I was speechless when it arrived from Simon Lytton today. That's why I just posted it "factual". :)

I knew the type of engraving that I wanted (the Purdey style as used on old shotguns)... and I knew that Simon knew what I meant. And then I just left it up to him.

Cheers

I love it. It has that 'old style' look to it, that you wished for and he carried out. Have you met Simon?

Great project and quick, too!

No I haven't met him, but we have spoken briefly on the phone. This is someone who I would like to meet though! His craftsmanship is awesome, and this one is something a little "different", although it is the oldest style of enraving.

I must admit, I like all types of engraving though, from this one, through to the more usual "leaf and scroll", and some of the "fantasy" engraving such as that by Ray Cover Junior. They all work! There are some incredibly talented artist engravers out there, and there is no doubt that we gain immense pleasure just by looking at the art, never mind owning some of it.

Funny, how you live in the UK and haven't met him, and I see him twice, three times a years here in the US. ;) :D

Simon ALWAYS has a mile-wide (kilometre-wide? ;)) smile on. Just great guy.

Congrats again.

Beautiful piece. Simon is a great engraver and like Coop said, he's a real nice guy.

I was fortunate enough to meet Simon a few years ago at a NYC show where I obtained a real fine Centofante and gave it to Simon for engraving. What a fine piece of work he turned out. Great guy on top of all that.
