Ladies and Gentlemen,

Could one of you take a moment to put a BH and Kephart next to each other for a few photographs?

Thanks,

Dont have a Kephart right now but used a Recluse...maybe that helps a little.

Here are some quick pics. I wasn't paying attention to the light so some handle contours are swallowed by shadow, but it might give you an idea.

Good question. But I'd have thought you'd have tried one out PT.

There are several new models I need to get my hands on!!!

From what I can see, the Hermit is like a pot-bellied kephart with a sharper guard

It should be great for those of us who like fatter handles.

More drop/acute tip on the kephart. The BH has both a taller blade and handle with slightly more open, longer contouring on the grip. This example of the BH does have the pointer guard, but I believe I have seen this vary on the BH, with the point being more common than not. Both handles are comfortable, for me, but the BH is obviously more filling. Similar yet different - I can't say any preference for one over the other, but I think you are right that people who like a more substantial handle will like the Bush Hermit.

Sorry for the bad photos, but I hope the mat adds some additional perspective. In general I wear a med size glove. I really like both of these models, however, since getting my first BH I find myself carrying it everywhere. I like the higher profile, which fills my hand better and feels to give me more control. I also tend to do many more tasks that the additional belly of the BH excel at over the pointer Kephart. IMO, it is worth to try both out and decide for yourself which knife works best for you. Or with prolonged use, you may end up specializing each knife for what task you are working on.

Wait a minute, what did you do with my OD hermit?

Note that I said since getting my "first" BH...I freaking love this knife. I've fought hard against collecting multiples of models (to no avail) to give me a better opportunity to try out more knives, but damn, the BH is just so nice and the one in these pictures pulled at my heartstrings. The OD one spends it's time getting pounded on and liking it.
