I had a chunk of Bocote laying around so I resawed and planed it to dimension. Nothing quite like wood.
Joshua Tree: 01 Tool Steel, 6.25" OAL, 2.5 x 1.25 x 1/8 blade. Bocote scales with carbon fiber pin and tube.

That looks good! I dig the carbon tube and pin with the dark tones in the bocote. Very nice setup. Is that the first you've shown us where the scandi doesn't go all the way to the choil?

I like it a lot BMK. Like Chain mentioned the Dark pin and tube really look nice with the dark wood. are the scales a little rough or is that just the photo? Nice job on the Makers Mark as well!

Thanks for your comments. Yes, this is a first where I stopped the bevel. The Bocote is finished with 000 steel wool and I did not fill the grain because I wanted it to be "grippy". With the exception of the open grain, it is very smooth. I have come Cocobolo that I will use next with the same dark pins.

That is a good looking combination of materials.

If I understand your measurements correctly it seems that the bevel is quite steep? Taking it up towards the spine a bit might make it a better cutter.

Thank you for the feedback. The jig I use is 12.5 degrees. 10 degrees/side would cut better but it's a tradeoff.

I think with 1/8" 12.5 is good, the scandi haters will always want more height in the grind. (I am not saying David66 is a scandi hater just to clarify):D

Nice design, good choice of materials, & excellent fit and finish. Was that one stamped or lasered?
