....okay, so Bush Runt was the best I could come up with. Bush Baby was taken.
Actually the knife doesnt even have a name but the thread had to have a heading.
Its simply a knife, which my friend and knifemaker, Larsmj, made to my specs.
Inspired by both some bushcraft knives and with a Perrin-style divot for a finger rest.
Knife is 1090 which works fine - easy to sharpen both in the field and at home and keeps a keen edge for a more than adequate time.
Knife works a charm - it does 90% of the work when in the woods - and I couldnt be happier with it. It is a joy to work with and sits nicely in the hand (I wear a size large glove but still the small(-ish) knife is just pleasant to work with. Less is more in this instance.
Im of course highly biased, as Lars is both my friend and an excellent knifemaker. I have ordered several blades from him over the years - knives, chopper, beardhawk and its always been a pleasant experience.
Lars will only make me knives, which he is interested in making and there is always a very nice back and forth/ping pong between the two os us during the designing and the actual making of the knife/blade - whether its forged or stock removal.
Always nice, when the knifemaker is super involved and invites debate on the design.
Im very pleased with this small unassuming knife and it instantly shot to the top of my favorite knives.
Anyway, the specs:
OAL 7"
Blade 3 1/4"
Handle micarta
Steel 1090
Large lanyard tube.
Came with a kydex sheath though I had told Lars, he didnt need to bother with making a sheath (I always say that to him - he almost always includes a sheath anyway). Ive been meaning to make a leather sheath, as that is what I usually do when getting a blade (be it production or custom), but Lars' kydex sheaths are just so dang nice.
Beard hawk also by Larsmj.
