....okay, so Bush Runt was the best I could come up with. Bush Baby was taken.

Actually the knife doesnt even have a name but the thread had to have a heading.

Its simply a knife, which my friend and knifemaker, Larsmj, made to my specs.

Inspired by both some bushcraft knives and with a Perrin-style divot for a finger rest.

Knife is 1090 which works fine - easy to sharpen both in the field and at home and keeps a keen edge for a more than adequate time.

Knife works a charm - it does 90% of the work when in the woods - and I couldnt be happier with it. It is a joy to work with and sits nicely in the hand (I wear a size large glove but still the small(-ish) knife is just pleasant to work with. Less is more in this instance.

Im of course highly biased, as Lars is both my friend and an excellent knifemaker. I have ordered several blades from him over the years - knives, chopper, beardhawk and its always been a pleasant experience.

Lars will only make me knives, which he is interested in making and there is always a very nice back and forth/ping pong between the two os us during the designing and the actual making of the knife/blade - whether its forged or stock removal.

Always nice, when the knifemaker is super involved and invites debate on the design.

Im very pleased with this small unassuming knife and it instantly shot to the top of my favorite knives.

Anyway, the specs:

OAL 7"

Blade 3 1/4"

Handle micarta

Steel 1090

Large lanyard tube.

Came with a kydex sheath though I had told Lars, he didnt need to bother with making a sheath (I always say that to him - he almost always includes a sheath anyway). Ive been meaning to make a leather sheath, as that is what I usually do when getting a blade (be it production or custom), but Lars' kydex sheaths are just so dang nice.

Beard hawk also by Larsmj.

Thanks much, gents.

I really like the handle combo you did here, Very nice job.
Well, in that case, here is a pic of the knife and a hatchet also by Lars with the same handle combo.

The handle combo idea, I cant take credit for. The knifemaker came up with the idea as he had some scraps in the workshop and thought it would look good.
We both liked how the end result looked - Lars so much, that he made the hatchet in the same manner.

Pls take into consideration, that the first pic is just my Q&D indoor phone camera pic and it doesnt do the colors nor the quality of Lars' work real justice.

Nice set!

That micarta is off the hook

The little knife in its sheath resting on a kind of possibles bag, that I made. On the same occasion, I experimented with leather and/or kydex on the sheath. I was torn between the two materials and almost decided for kydex to continue the theme but liked the leather firesteel holder and the sharpening stone pocket so much, that I kept the leather even though it was made quickly and slapped on in a hurry and originally only meant to be a temporary fix.

Lars made the most excellent kydex sheath which hold the knife exactly right and I slapped on a IWB loop, which truth be told mostly gets used as a place to hang a carabiner for a belt loop these days.

Then I thought about it and added the firesteel holder and the sharpening stone pocket just for the heck of it. I like the setup so much, I kept it like that. Works a charm.
