Hey Guys,

I'm putting together a Bushcraft Basic 2 class, through the center I work for (non-profit). Last time I just offered it local and it turned out OK, but I was urged to post it up here to see if there is an interest.
The class will be a fire intensive class, and will range from basic fire making all the way to special friction fires (rain godwilling!) such as hand drills and the bamboo saw. The official time of the class will be from 10am to 5pm on November 6, with an option to camp out on the property (next to the New River) afterwards. The cost would be a modest $30, but people around here generally don't sign up until the last minute, and that has resulted in the cancellation of classes sometimes. I would like to offer it to the forums to see if there is any interest. I need at least 4 participants to go ahead and start gathering materials.
Class includes:
1 match fires
natural tinder selection
unique tinder selection
making wax fire starters
fire temperatures and wood selection
bow drill
campfire apparatuses
Bamboo fire saw demo
Making Char cloth
Flint and steel
hand drill demonstration/option- (if time)

I want to say I'm interested, but seems like every time you plan something, and I say count me in, something comes up.

ETA: After reading my post, I realize it could be construed as criticism of Joe. Not the case. I meant that something always comes up on my end at the last minute.

I'm just over the mountain from Sparta, so I am interested in coming. When do you need a definite answer? I only ask, as my job takes me all over the US and I want to make sure I'm not gonna be in L.A. or Vegas or sumptin like that. Thank you. Moose

haha no offense taken, but I really appreciate your earnestness! It is definitely happening as it was another forum member's idea. If you make it, I hope you bring your golok!

Definite answer probably needed about a week before.

If I can swing it, the golok is definitely coming, along with some other Condor goodness.

Hey Guys, note the date change!

The class will be on private property near Independence, VA

Hey if you guys get a second, please vote for the wellness center every day you can, just one vote will help! This is a grant to help get a much needed pool structure over the energy draining pool.

Bump to the top, as Moose was looking for the thread

I'm in. I will be there late friday night, and ready to go saturday. Is the list you sent me what I need to bring, or will the flyer have the in info. I have everything required on the list you pm'd me about, I just don't want to show up empty handed. Is the $30 required up front, or can I pay it there? Look forward to gettin' some of this. Moose

The flyer will have the info. You can pay the $30.00 when you get there. If you show up empty handed I should have everything to cover yah, including possibly a hammock to test out :)!

That's funny, I was just looking at a new hammock/sleeping bag setup. Who makes it? Moose

I'll be leaving for this on Friday the 19th, if anyone from the area wants to ride, just pm or email me. Moose
