Due to the avalanching of new stuff, projects, contracting, writings, and such, I have been gone, sort of in and out for a while. I’ll be paying attention more to the threads now, but it may help to show you some of the fun stuff that has been going on. Last weekend:

Bushcraft Basics #1

This is a class that I put on at the center on a Saturday. The feedback was phenomenal, and everyone had fun. We focused on camp furniture, knife use and sharpening, and machete use. We used splitting wedges made of dogwood, locust batons, made tables and billy can holders, tin coffee billy cans, showed different ways of boiling water and fire manipulation, and had a great time. The next Bushcraft Basics will be fire intensive, and by golly, I’m having it on my property with some canopy! We were out in the middle of field in 90 degree weather. The location was OK, but at my little bushlab this time, it will definitely feel more primitive Pictures don't do too much justice of what actually went on during the class but you get a rough idea.

I didn't get a chance to take many pictures as I was teaching, but I'll try to have a better plan for a report on all the other stuff next time. It got into the paper too. Spread the bushcraft love!!!

The next day I got to take the Pup out in the canoe for the first time. It was her first time swimming too, it was great! She is farting like a howitzer right now though.

Sure looks like fun Joe. I appreciate that you take the time to work with the young ones too. They are our 'bushcraft' future ya know.
