Who what when why and how good? Where do I get?

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

"Bushcraft" - also sold as "Northern Bushcraft" by Mors Kochanski is very good - especially for northern areas. Some of his ideas are taken to task - such as an axe being the primary survival tool. I agree - up here. Other ideas such as with knives are also contoversial because he likes small and cheap - like Mora. www.chapters.com may still have a sale on these books.
First get Greg Davenport's book to consider strategy, then the tips in Mors' book are great.

Then there is Bushcraft by Richard Graves! His takes place in warmer tropical climates. Being in Va, you may end up wanting that one more!

But then there is Dave's book, Chris Janowsky's, McPherson's, Olsen's, Wiseman's, Brown's...the list is LONG! Many are good books.

Then there are VIDEOS! I have several of Ron Hood's Woodsmaster videos and they are GREAT! Check out his website as well as Dave's.

It all depends upon what you are looking for geographically and so forth. I have all but Tom Brown's books that I've listed above, along with some other's. Each takes things a little differently.

Do you want to go primitive or have a major kit with you? McPherson's and Olsen's use strictly primitive methods. Ron and Dave use minimal gear. Janowsky, Kochanski and Graves use MORE gear...Just for an idea.

This is a big topic, survival and there are a lot of ways to look at it, with a lot of sources for info!

Good luck!
