I just got mine in the mail and from the initial feel, it looks to be a great user. The thin blade ought to slice food better than my scandi Bushcrafter and the 3V steel ought to hold up to tons of use. I suppose that I'll choose either one depending on the kinds of tasks I'll probably face.

I wonder why more makers don't use 3V. I've LOVED it on my scandi Bushcrafter and it sharpens up fine with my diamond stones.

Anyway, thanks Dan.

By the way, how do folks add a tek-lock to these kydex sheaths? the handle scale bulge in the kydex gets in the way.

Glad to hear you like it.

To use a teklok, you'll need to add a rubber washer. I set them up as high as you can get with the rubber washer installed. Should be able to put it on either side of the knife (spine or edge) - both are set up. The edge/guard side is set up for canted carry (corner to corner on the teklok).

Enjoy!

Dan

I've got the rubber washers and I can get it set up for horizontal carry nicely. It ought to be nice for the small of my back when I'm not carrying a pack.

I didn't know about the canted carry method, but just tried it out. Pretty slick!

Oh, one more thing (spoken in Columbo-style voice), the blade on the flatground I just got is about 3/16" shorter than my scandi Bushcrafter. It measures about 3 and 3/4" from the ricasso to the tip and 3 and 13/16" from the front of the scales. Is there a bit of variation between blades? It's not a concern, just an observation.

Yes - the nature of flat grinding them and then having them stone-tumbled resulted in a slightly shorter blade. The current profile was too "pointy" and the tip needed to be brought back in a little bit. Good observation.

Thanks!

Dan
