Bushcraft Karda vs. ED Karda

I suppose the title says it. Knife-only pics are welcome, and in hand pics might be nice too.

But I'm more interested in impressions of those who have both models to work side by side. Strengths, weaknesses, similarities, differences? For me, this would be a woods knife, perhaps paired with my Bushcrafter or another larger (less pointy) knife. It would not be an EDC (my Bushboot kills that role nicely).

Any thoughts?

Well I just happen to have one of each at the moment. ;) Each is my second in that pattern. I lean towards the BC for the obvious reason; the longer handle. But they both are really great and useful. And don't get me wrong, the handle on the ED is plenty long. But that little bit extra on the BC just feels better to me. Of course YMMV. If I had no concern about pocketability and just wanted a woods knife, I'd probably go with the BC. If I didn't have this one in slate, I probably would have grabbed the BC with sand blasted micarta at BladeHQ.

This is the knife I won from the GAW from our crazy cool generous member Will. (Obviously this is from when our garden was kicking this summer. The frost has killed it off at this point. :( )

It's my first wood handled FB. I have to admit, I REALLY like it. Although I haven't yet, I'd like to spend some hours carving with it. Maybe one of these cold nights I can carve out a spoon or something while next to the fireplace.

For my uses, the older I get, I'm more of a fan of a small blade with a full sized handle. It's funny how your tastes change over time.

IMO, the EDK is the best feeling FB in hand. Yes, it's a smaller knife, but it fills and locks in my hand perfectly. I picked one up on a whim and was completely taken by surprise by it.

I'm with Kirkwood on this one. I really like the edk, but that extra little handle on the bushcraft karda is awesome. The bck is by far my favorite small bladed fiddleback because of that handle. For an edc though I might go with the edk. I would like to see the bck handle with a larger blade!

They are both great knives in my opinion.

I just got a BCK from Halloween's FBF. This is going to probably become my go to knife replacing my hiking buddy. I find that I only use about 2 inches of the blade on my hiking buddy. The long handle on the BCK with the short blade gives great control and the blade can handle most light duty work. I was also very interested in the design for carving and with the small blade, it should be great.

I do not have an opinion on the EDK, but the BCK is a great design. I highly recommend for everyone to at least give it a try.
