Recently got a knife back from my dad; traded him a knife he liked a bit better for this one I had given him years back.
A J. Diotte bushcraft knife I got many years ago from kgd.
154CM blade, 4 inches long, 0.208" thick steel.
0.050" thick behind the edge.
Amazing handle ergonomics, and practically indestructible blade.
My dad took it out to the woods and hunting when he wanted a knife he knew was indestructible in case of needing to get fire in in case of emergency.
He doesn't head out so much now, and he still has the Busse Gamewarden I gave him, so he will be fine.
My stepbrother had also borrowed it from my dad in the past when he wanted an indestructible emergency knife with him.
Well, now I have it again.
In a city.
With no woods in sight...what to do?
Hmmm, need to eat. Low on freezer meat supplies, but there is an old frozen pack of donair meat.
Is the Diotte up to the task?
Yep.
Cuts meat that is solidly frozen good enough.
How about onions?
Not elegant, but it makes them into pieces.
To busy eating ravenously to take more pics under packing up the leftovers:
Guess it counts as survival knife now, since it helped me make food.
Thus I did not starve to death, and survived.
