Like a lot of folks, I have read about Mors Korchanski, The Skookum Bush Tool, Ray Mears etc etc.

Finally I caved and wanted a bushcraft knife. I looked into both customs and the Spyderco version.

As such things go, the whole thing gathered momentum. The more I read about the knives, the more I wanted certain features put together in one knife.

As Im not a big fan of guardless knives, I wanted at least some kind of guard for example (have already managed to cut myself in spite of this).

In the end, I had friend and knifemaker Lars (Larsmj) make me a custom knife.

So, here it is.

I wanted a tan/desert-like colour for the micarta. This will darken in use.

The notch in the spine is for the firesteel.

I had Lars move the hole for the first pin hole from the guard back a bit, as I have seen some bushcraft knives break at a stress point between the handle and blade. Some broke right at the hole for the pin. Wont happen with normal use of course.

The knife is laminated carbon steel.

Cap left 'in the rough,' which is fine by me, as I will beat the snot out of it.

Any input about the knife would be valued. Please give me your honest opinion. I can take it.

That is a very nice knife. If you don't like it, feel free to email me and I'll buy it from ya! ;)

Nice paperweight, IMHO that thing is a piece of junk. Terrible blade profile, bad steel, bad handle material, and terrible fit and finish. You shouldnt have any use for that knife seeing as its a pos, I suggest you throw it in a furnace and wait till it stinks like knife. Or you could send it to me, please send it to me :D

That knife is fantastic. I own a SBT and have come to appreciate its features and function. I absolutely admire your interpretation of the design.

Thanks for the comments, guys:thumbup:
HardTripper, I sat up in the chair, when I started to read that first line:D

Anyway, when I got the knife, I made a sheath for it.
I usually make more elaborate sheaths with stitching all the way round the sheath, when I get a knife.
But in keeping with the simple style of the bushcraft knife and because I've grown to like the simple Finnish style, I deceided to make a simple Puukko-style sheath

Sheath is comfortable to wear and easy to get out of the way when sitting or what ever.
The sheath could have benefitted from a bit more shape - maybe a Kydex liner the next time, but the combination of knife and sheath works fine IMO.

Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated.
Especially as you have the SBT, you lucky dog.
As you and I both have stated, the influence of the SBT is unmistakable.
I'm a huge fan of the RG design.
In my many talks with my friend and knifemaker, I stressed this and the SBT details, that I liked.
I did so to a degree, that the knifemaker, who had never made a bushcraft knife before, is now totally hooked on the concept, LOL.
He even made a beautiful prototype knife to try out the concept prior to making mine - now, thats dedication in my book:

In the specs for my knife, I adhere to the basic Korchanski/Garcia/Mears bushcraft ideas/specs and picked the details, that I preferred.
Its a heavily influenced SBT with the addition of just the smallest hint of a guard and a slight clip.
