bushcraft knife

Can't go wrong with a Kabar (any USMC type, Heavy bowie, KBD1), Becker (Bkt-2) or Ontario. Cold Steel might have something too. Many of those are in the $50-70 range. I dont think you will find a Ranger, Falkniven (sp?), or RAT in that price range unless you hit the for sale forums.

The mora knife is what alot of guys use I believe. Also the other traditional knives from sweden, finland, norway, ect. Pukkos and the like. The bushcraft guys like the scandi grind that many of these knives use, and the supposed toughness.

The RAT Izula might be a good choice...you can get the small survival system with it for $66.

It totally depends on your definition of bushcraft. Do you plan on doing a lot of small tasks, whittling and the like? (mora works) Or do you plan on battonning through everything you see? (RC-4 works great)

Himalayan Imports R-10. Takes a ridiculously sharp edge and, provided you're not one of those wierdos who tries to destroy an Abrams tank with it, is VERY durable.

But if you don't...who will? :D

I think if you don't mind coughing up the extra dough for it (only around $15 more if you look hard enough) then the RC-4 is one mean woods blade.

I can mention many knives for survival activities, but specifically for bushcraft if you don't want to spend much money a Frosts Swedish army utility knife.... only 13 dollars and a lot of knife for each dollar.

Can't go wrong with a BK-2, lots of knife for the money.

A bit smaller, but one that I really like is the Gerber Freeman hunter.

The Rat 3 and 4 are good knives (even the Ontarios)

Jarvenpaa or Helle would be my recommendations for that price range.

The Benchmade Rant should work very well for you. You can get it for less than $50 (new) online.

Himalayan Imports R-10 or JKM-1. Both are great blades within that price range. The R-10 has a five inch blade and a more acute point so it gets my nod.

The RC 4 form RAT cutlery is also a fantastic knife. However it is outside that price range.

The R-10 is no slouch when it comes to durability or performance and one would be very hard pressed to even come close to matching its quality and performance for the price.
