We at Fletcher knives love our bushcrafting family. Although we have over the last couple of years split our design efforts to accommodate both the bushcraft and tactical world, we started out making woodsbummin tools and that's what gave us our beginning. The folks we started out making knives for had mosquito bites all over them, not molle straps.

We love seeing all of the survival and general bushcraft skills put into practice. It helps us see what changes need to be made to designs and also just helps everybody learn new skills. Why not make it a contest?

Here's the contest. Take pictures of yourself, using the knife of your choosing, performing any bushcraft or survival skills. We've all seen people widdle fuzz sticks and make figure four traps. Try to make your presentation something off the beaten path, and explain what you're demonstrating. Trust me, the prizes will be worth the effort. You don't have to have the best pictures or explanation to win. You just have to give it your best shot. Two winners will be chosen.

These days, Fletcher Knives is producing no shortage of knives, we're designing new stuff like crazy and we're about to introduce the new bushcraft and tactical models. To mark the occasion, we decided to give away a couple to some deserving bushcrafters. The two winners will receive one free knife from Fletcher Knives each. One will be the latest full-size bushcraft knife, the Delta-5. The other well be the latest mid-sized bushcraft model, the Delta-4 mkII. Both will be #1 on the certificate of authenticity and will come with Fletcher Knives Clean Kydex sheaths.

The deadline will be August 1st, so have your photos up before then. Most importantly, be creative and have fun!

Here is a few pics of my boys helping me get afire going in my HOBO stove for some Fried Bologna...we also boiled water just for fun.

These photos were taken while backpacking on some Crown land bush in Ontario.

Carving my bow drill set from a piece of standing, dead balsam fir using my Mora blade.

The bow drill set finished:

About to put the bow drill to use and my Mora nearby at the ready to carve the notch in the hearth board after 'burning in' the hole.

Checking for an ember:

Blowing the small coal ember and natural tinder bundle into a flame on a piece of birch bark.

Using my Mora again to carve a pot stand to go over my fireplace:

The adjustable pot stand over my cooking fire:

Some stakes I carved to hold down my tarp and guy out the sides of my hammock and fly.

That tarp and hammock guyed out using the stakes I carved:

Thanks for the chance to win Fletcher Knives. :-)

Thanks Dylan! This is not too bushcrafty but it's all that I have from my last outing. I ran out of fuel tabs for my Esbit last week, and I really enjoy eating in the woods. So, I decided to make a one stick fire with my machete and saw. Thanks for looking.

The stick, machete, and saw.

Hi Dylan, thanks for the challenge and the chance to win free knives from one of my favorite makers.
This is me with my 16-inch Fiddleback forge machete.

This is a shovel I made from a split pine log and cut it down to the shape I wanted then stabbed the machete in to a log so I could use it as a draw knife, and by that I mean I moved the work not the machete, and rounded over the edges.

This is a sand filter I made by digging a hole about a foot deep into the sand next a creek this and boiling should make most water safe to drink it has a few inches of murky water in it but after a few minutes the silt settled on the bottom. I made it using two digging sticks both shown.

I was tired of making snares and dead falls so I made this a Apache foot trap. I made this using the two digging sticks from earlier.

This is a bivy style shelter I made out of a tarp. I whittled the tent pegs with the machete.

This is a fish snare that I made using strong vines as cordage.

This is a Swedish torch that I made using pine. It had burned for a few hours before I took this picture. I burned some sage in the fire to help keep the mosquitoes at bay. the best thing about this type of fire is you can set what you are cooking straight on top of it, I boiled about half a gallon of water over this in about 15 minutes.

These are some wild edibles that I gathered. after I ate I brushed my teeth with a dogwood twig.

Artsey shot of camp on a frosty fall morning, before the reflector,

No shots of me (no loss there), but here's a shot of the wife on a less hospitable outing,

I think that glass of Port saved my life that night!! She's a keeper!

A cool shot of the fire that night,

here, fishy...fishy...fishy. they said you can "survive anywhere with just a knife" and "two is one and one is none" so i tried to go fishing with two knives.

i didn't catch any (i'll keep practicing!) but it gave me the idea to pitch an "asian vs. wild" show to discovery as we speak :p the first will be the "white rice and spam" episode. my chosen sidekick will probably be my fiddleback 12" machete...it already passed my grueling torture test with flying colors!

Thanks for the opportunity! Would be delighted to win a Fletcher knife! I hope contest applies for internationals too and I'm happy to cover shipping cost. And if I win I'll post some carving pics with it for sure!

Last weekend I went with 2 friends for some primitive camping and we searched for wild edibles. I carved a "spear" for cooking one of the chicken wings I brought (the middle part is clamped and outer parts are speared). Used hazel for the spear and willow bark to lash things together. Worked perfect, nothing dropped in the fire and chicken was really delicious. Furthermore in the picture a tripod pot hanger used for cooking our meals and a feather stick. Used knife Mora 746 and a folding saw.

A few years ago I carved a spork from hazel wood with a Mora Triflex 780. I take it on every camping trip and it is my favorite piece of cutlery.

Sometimes you forget your BBQ tools, makeshift hazel tools are practical as replacement :)

Another project that's running now already for a very long period is making a bow. It's my first serious attempt in bow making, made of course many during childhood but that was nothing more than a stick with a string. For this bow I used hazel. It's a looongbow of 211 cm long :D The actual design and dimensions are just intuition (I wanted to see what I could make without external info). Used a Gransfors wildlife hatchet for carving the rough lines. Then for more detailed work I used an Enzo Nordic and a Mora 746. And finally some sandpaper. Actually it's not finished yet (should do the tillering better etc), but was a bit impatient to test it. For know it shoots 120 meters with some crappy makeshift arrow. So I'm already very pleased with the result. Pictures of current state are below
