So I know that I read a post about good bushcraft books, but i can't for the life of me find the thread. I am trying to track down some books that will help me improve my skills and was wondering if you guys had any good recommendations?

thanks

anything by Ray Mears, Mors Kochanski, Cody Lundin, and a host of other writers i cant seem to remember right now :D

The SAS Survival Handbook by John Wiseman is pretty good. It comes with different covers depending on which edition it is, but the content is pretty much the same.

Thanks for the input guys. I now have several books on order that I should be receiving by the end of the week. Since I don't watch TV I tend to go through books rather quickly.

As for the SAS handbook...I already own a copy of it. It is however at home in NC and not doing me much good here in NY. I just can't bring myself to buy a book I already own. It will have to wait till I get home this summer.

the books I got are:
1) Bushcraft: Outdoor Skills and Wilderness Survival,
by Mors L. Kochanski
2) Camping and Woodcraft: A Handbook for Vacation Campers and for Travelers in the Wilderness,
by Horace Kephart, James A. Casada (Illustrator)
3) Outdoor Survival Handbook,
by Raymond Mears, Paul Bryant (Illustrator)
4) Tom Brown's Guide to Wilderness Survival,
by Tom Brown, Heather Bolyn (Illustrator), With Brandt Morgan
5) Tom Brown's Guide to Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants,
by Tom Brown, Heather Bolyn (Illustrator), Trip Becker (Illustrator)
6) Tom Brown's Field Guide to Living with the Earth,
by Tom Brown, Heather Bolyn (Illustrator), Trip Becker (Illustrator)
7) Tom Brown's Field Guide to Nature Observation and Tracking,
by Tom Brown, Heather Bolyn (Illustrator), With Brandt Morgan
8) Mountainman Crafts and Skills: A Fully Illustrated Guide to Wilderness Living and Survival,
by David Montgomery
9) Native American Crafts and Skills: A Fully Illustrated Guide to Wilderness Living and Survival,
by David Montgomery

I will post on here about their content as I have a chance tog et through them.

I don't think you can go wrong with two main books.
1. Wildwood wisdom by Ellsworth Jaeger
2. Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski

You have some excellent books there. Although someone already mentions Cody Lundin, his first book can't be emphasized enough.
98.6 Degress: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive is a MUST read for any survival minded person.
