Hello,
I don’t know where else to post this, so if there is a better place, please let me know.
I’ve made a total of 3 of these Kephart-ish style bushcrafters out of 8670 with this new (to me at least) blackened heat treat finish and a convex grind. I’m trying to keep them in about the $150 range and so far they’ve been really popular! Two have sold immediately and the third was a custom order, here’s some photos:

What do y’all think?
And when/if I get more time, what do y’all think of me doing a larger batch of them? (Which for me would be like 10-20)
There is a specific reason I’d like to stick with 8670, but if I was to do a different high carbon steel, what would y’all like to see? Also what handle materials would y’all like?
Any questions or comments welcome!

What is the reason to stick with 8670? A lot of it on hand? Good looking knife, what is the thickness?
Thanks!
In order to get that black finish I have to do all the bevel grinding then do the heat treat, which means I need a steel that’s going to be more stable in the quench so there’s less chance of the edge warping, and 8670 is just that. Though if I’m carful and do a little experimenting I’m sure other steels will work.
Blade thickness is 0.26” though if I switch steels I’d probably go a little thinner.
