Bushing Pivot Advantages?

I have, and use, both the Sebenza 21 and 25. Both pivots are as smooth as possible, as both knives' perceived smoothness is limited by the detent ball pushing on the side of the blade. The 21 is no smoother, due to its bushing pivot, than the 25 is with a properly adjusted pivot. The '25 pivot seems like quite a step up, it's Strider big and is as smooth (very smooth!) as any other PB washer pivot when properly adjusted.

If a knife can open no smoother than the detent ball dragging along the side of the blade will allow, what benefit is there to the pivot bushing system?

I saw a post here where someone claimed that the 21 and the 25 have the same size pivots. The 21 pivot bushing, being the same size as the 'pivot pin' on a 25 makes them the same size. I kind of buy that theory. The pivot bushing on a 21, being sandwiched between the scales, does not move or rotate. The blade rotates around the bushing. I would also argue that they are equally as strong with the scales trapping the pins.

I prefer the 21 bushing because it is just as strong as any pivot out there, there are NO adjustments to make (you hit the tight tolerance each and every time, no room for error), it takes one tool to break down the entire knife, and no lock-tite is needed. Also, it is somewhat unique and is just cool.

I think you unknowingly stated the advantage. The advantage is a knife that is equally smooth without the need for adjustments.

This!

I like simple. One tool. No loctite. Max tightness. Centered blade. Drop free smooth.

Pivot bushing is Sebenza.

All of the above!!

The bushing system is what makes the Sebenza unique. If I pay $350.- or more, I want unique.
