Bushman Bowie

I have the regular Bushman - but for the same $$ I think I'd rather have the Bowie. I don't think I'm going to get one though...

How is it that the Bowie weighs less than the regular Bushman - they're the same length and thickness...? Misprint you think?

I have a org. Bushamn myself and love it but Im going to get one of these when there instock

NOOOOO. Don't clarify. Do Not Mention LT in any way good or bad.

PLEASE just talk about knives in this one blessed thread!!!

Yeah, let's make this thread about the Bushman Bowie. If anybody feels we don't have enough threads on Lynn Thompson you can always start a new one....

Hey Caine, from what steel is your regular Bushman made? I see that the new blades are the new SK5. It would be interesting if you could do some type of comparison. SK5 is roughly equivalent to 1085, although it's got some trace elements as well.

Sure would like to hear a comparison.

Sorry, quoted wrong post. Should have quoted Caine. He's the one who said he had an older model and was going to get a new one. (It's late and my eyes are getting blurry. Better shuffle off to bed. 0-dark-30 comes early)

I would like to see them make some variant of Bushman with a 4" or just under blade.

MP, the cutting edge on the Mini Bushman is 41/4".

These knives are an excellent value, one of the best "survival" tools you can have. Carried in my shoulder bag while in the bush, the weight and size of the Mini is not even noticed, they cut great, and having a spear in your pocket is pretty cool.

This new bowie blade style is neat, the "drop point" will make cleaning big game easier, but as a spear, I'm thinking the penetration would not be any better than the old style.

Did they stop making the Mini Bushman? Why?

I was always going to pick one up, one of these days, and never got around to it....

The mini is gone.

Thought I found some on one site.
Put in an order for 2, 5 hours later, got an email saying there gone.
That was yesterday, but their still listed

Sorry boys, didn't know that. I've had mine for seven or eight years.

Guess it's like the old saw about hunting jackets. "If you find one you really like, buy two, because you know they'll quit making it.":(

From the looks of it, I think I will stick with the original Bushman (which I like a lot). I just don’t see the need for the wider Bowie blade. I would be interested if they came out with a 9 or 10” blade version, especially if it were a bit thicker stock for chopping.

Thanks for the info. If I find one, that means I'll only need to take a quarter inch of the back (make it 3/8" for safety) to avoid violating 53-206 or 29-38.
