The knives showed up today...man, what an adventure they've had!!!

And you could see the evidence of hard use all over it...:foot:

So, I went ahead and cleaned 'em up...turned 'em into something respectable. Because, I don't like mucked-up knives hangin' round the shop.

I reground the blades all the way to the top - to be more like the production run....and re-etched the logo..and added some more info.

Both handles were completely reworked...to include more "radiussing" in the cross-section...making it more comfortable. The flats were refinished as well - sandblasted on the micarta one, scotcbrite buffed on the ironwood one.

So....when I was done....I realized I really wanted to keep these....or at least one of them...

Trouble is...I can't decide which.

The Ironwood BushMaster is a beauty....can't believe I sent ironwood on a passaround...:foot:....but, hey...it was worth it.

The micarta BushMaster feels a lot lighter in the hand than I remembered...and I like the full width tang. This one will do great in a Spec Ops Combat Master sheath.

I put up a poll....let me know which (if any) of these I should hold on to...

Thanks!

Dan

If you want to use it with reckless abandon then I would say the micarta one. If you are going to wear it to a lot of formal dinners the ironwood one. Personally, I would show off with the ironwood, I love wearing knives to church and meetings.

make me an offer, powernoodle...shoot me a PM if interested. I need an excuse to keep the ironwood bushmaster....bad....

That Ironwood one would make a good compliment to the EDC fixed blade I have...hint! hint!

Shoot me an asking price!

BTW, did the other 2 EDC's make it home yet?

Yes, the EDCs found their way home. I made a cool kydex sheath that can be worn like a pouch sheath...need to take pics of it. #3 has been on my belt in that sheath since the hour it arrived back here in the shop!! Lovin' it.

chickenplucker - got your PM...haven't heard from powernoodle yet...will wait a little bit more...

If you're gonna keep one...I'd keep the Ironwood... but you should just throw it in with the other BushMaster you're (hopefully) making for me :D

Dan, that Ironwood BushMaster is truely beautiful... You should definately hang onto it...

That has always been something I have asked myself about knifemakers such as yourself... If you all can churn out pieces of art for people like us, I can't imagine some of the pieces that ya'll keep for yourselves...

well...it's not that I don't like 'em...I do....and the ones I truly love I hold onto the best I can. Just that knifemaking is an "ups-n-downs" business...and when I need supplies...my knife collection always takes a hit...and it's easier to sell my own work than that of others..know what I mean?

The micarta BushMaster is GONE.

Tears...but tears of joy knowing it will see some good use.

Dan, your bulging bank account (well-earned, I might add) might give you some comfort during your time of mourning. :)
