Bushwacker Mistress: A Working Knife

I didn't buy the new BWM just to look at. This is the type of chopper I have been hoping Busse would make for quite a while. I prefer my choppers light and fast. I like to use the same knife for slashing brush and chopping wood. This knife does both very well. I already knew from experience that a good convex edge not only works for slashing brush, but is superior for chopping. I figured that if 1095, 420HC, and 1075 could be taken down thin, INFI would do even better, and with superior edge retention than those steels. A recent wind storm blew down some large dead Red Bay limbs, so time to put my newly convexed Busse to work.

The big Busse went through that hard wood like an axe, but with less effort. Even after chopping quite a bit of wood, the edge would still shave. Now that's why I wanted a nice fast chopper in INFI! Nice job, Jerry. I found the new handle design to be very comfortable, too. I have zero complaints about this Bushwaker. It is right up there with my beloved DFLE.

Looks like a good way to clear some wood! If you don't mind me asking, how does is compare to the Swamprat M9 or NMSFNO? I know they're both a little shorter, but...

Thanks:thumbup:

The CG M9 feels similar. The M9LE is faster. I don't know for sure, but my full convexed NMSFNO would probably give the BW a run for its money in chopping, but not in brush slashing. Maybe I'll compare them later.

Thanks:thumbup: I should just be thankful for what I've got, but your pics sure make it hard to not want one:D

That BWM looks pretty impressive, is it pretty stout? That also looks like one heck of an edge on that blade. How does it compare to the other mistresses, in terms of a camp blade?

Very cool Horn Dog. I like the edge you put on that blade. She looks like a nasty convex. Well done fine sir!

I hope I can put that nice of an edge on mine when it comes in, but I don't think I can do that nice of a job.

Nicely done HD.:cool::thumbup:

I'm still fenced on the BWM.:foot::o

I'll say that handle looks pretty dang comfy though which is a big plus for those long play sessions.:thumbup:
