Bushwacker vs CGBFM

Unfortunately a question, not a review with pics. :)

I currently have a CGBFM, and am thinking about getting a Bushwacker. Unfortunately, due to funding issues I'd probably have to get rid of the CGBFM if I did so. I've used the CGBFM quite a bit, primarily clearing fallen branches and downed trees (hardwood) by my house, and found it to be a great knife.
The biggest advantage the Bushwacker would bring, that I can see, is being quite a bit lighter for carrying around. This doesn't seem to impact it's cutting ability to much from the reviews I've been seeing.
Any thoughts/opinions on "if you can only have one?"

Dave

And yes, I know, I should 'buy both.' :) But its not going to happen. :)

Over the CGFBM, none, no way will it out chop or cut a CGFBM, never happen, the CGFBM is the top favorite BM by a lot of people. ;)

I have them both, the BWM is a nice blade, but the CGFBM is well an FBM, need I say more. ;) :D

I would keep the CGFBM and buy a BWM, but no way would I give up the CGFBM to get a BWM, you will be kicking yourself if you do trust me.

BWM on the left, CGFBM on the right

BWBM.

And I don't buy the "no way will it outchop a CGFBM" line... I've seen lighter, faster knives beat heavier knives FAR too often to discount the BWBM without some serious chopoffs in different types of wood.

Without data, it's all speculation ;)

Given the same edge profile on both blades I would take that bet any day and even give you a head start. ;)

I have chopped with both and the CGFBM out does it easy IMO.

Remember there is only 7 ounces difference in weight and the CGFBM has a much better balance and blade profile for chopping, it just bites like a beast. :)

I think the biggest difference besides the weight is the droopy butt on the FBM vs. the straighter butt on the BWM. I haven't chopped much with my BWM yet so I can't decide which I like more.

I like my mistresses fat...at least for heavy chopping! But yea, I would have to agree with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy. If you have any regrets in missing out on the BWBM, I'm sure that some generous hog would part with one for cost. There are some great people on this forum

I find the BWBM handle much more comfortable than the Fusion handle for extended chopping. Both give me Busse Pinky, but it's less pronounced on the straighter BWBM handles.

I can understand that. :)

It's the opposite for me though, I have pretty big hands, I just wish the handle slabs were thicker on the BWM, plus I can feel it more when chopping with the BWM. With the CGFBM it's just solid power throwing huge chunks of wood every place and I don't feel the vibration at all.

What kind of handles are on your CGFBM? I think that makes a big difference too. My FSH has the machined mags, which I'm not a fan of. I think the hand shaped mags would be a lot better suited for my uses.

Any excuse for a new Busse... yes. Get rid of my CGFBM... I don't think so.

Just G10 Mags, photo above in post #3. :)

I sold my FFBM to buy the BWM.

I will buy another FFBM down the line. Probably in Atlanta.

I am going to shed a tear packing her up.

I like em fat too! More to hang onto and love! It's really fun to strip them so you can see the dimples. I kept my fat ASH and got rid of the skinny ASH:D Of course with every shot of Patron they seem skinnier and lighter ;)

I think the CGFBM with CBT is THE best Mistress ever as a user BM. I wouldn't sell it to get a BWM.

I agree!! I actually have a BWM and a FFBM on the exchange for the very reason being discussed here. Love them both, but i have a CGFBM that is fantastic. if it works don't fix it. CGFBM all the way for a one knifer question!!:thumbup:

Thanks for the thoughts, pretty much what I was thinking. Just getting the INFI bug and of course jealousy seeing everyone play with their new knives. Maybe someday down the line I'll be able to pick one up. :)
