Hiya,

OK, I've visited the Busse website and spent some time lurking here, and drooling over the pics of the Battle Mistresses at the Exchange, but I'm still a little confused with regards to the different Busse models and options available to buyers.

Could I ask some kind soul to give a rundown of the current Busse line-up?

I'm not going to try and obtain a full history - I realise that is a mammoth task. I'd just like to know what is available to a Busse virgin who is looking to pop his cherry at this moment in time. I think this could also be a useful sticky for newbs to the Busse area.

If you have the energy to expand on the different options (blade finishes, handles, etc) on the models, that would be outstanding.

Many thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

There really is no such thing as a "current line-up" in the sense of a production knife company. Busse releases one or two blades at a time in various fits and finishes directly from www.bussecombat.com; you order from them and wait to receive your requested blade. The wait can be many months, so patience is key (you aren't billed when you order but when your order is ready to ship). Once the available blade is removed from the site, no more orders are taken for it and it becomes part of Busse history.

Then there is the Busse Company Store at www.bussecompanystore.com which is run by Idaho Skunk. They sell models no longer directly available from the main Busse Combat site a few months after the model has been discontinued on the main site. The difference is that they sell models they have in stock, so the turn around on orders is in days instead of months. Also, as of late, Skunk has been the sole source of certain models such as Game Wardens and limited edition fit and finish versions of blades. The Fat Flat FBM, the Red/Black G10 BATAC, and the varieties of AD and MRS that were recently offered fit into this category.

If you don't find anything available that you want from the Company Store, there are always Extravaganzaaas and the Exchange.

Stick around, while there are a few things to learn it is all fun! :)

If you want some info about the Ganzas you have been (or will start) hearing about - click the "What is a Ganza" link in my sig.

Welcome!

The current Busse line-up is the Scotch Dispenser, which you can pre-order at bussecombat.com.

I was under the impression that all models came up again after going through the whole lineup. So the FBMs that were available before the Scotch Dispenser would be available again in 3 or so years? Correct?

Yes or "2 months" which ever come last, er first, er sometimes.

 is the correct answer.

"Two weeks" is an old joke... sorta like "Busse time." The response from Jerry et al regarding scheduling was often "two weeks." "Two weeks" might be 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years, etc.

"Two months" is just a joke. The Busse "two weeks" wait is legendary and is proof there are worm holes or time warps or something of the sort because time in Wauseon seems to be MORE relative than elsewhere. It appears to be relative to how much Scotch they have been drinking ;)

Gotcha, thanks. Still learnin.:)

Here is my understanding FWIW;

Staple models are

- Battle Mistress
- Steel Heart
- (Satin Jack)
- Natural Outlaw
- Badger
- etc

These resurface every "3 years" in new blade/hande variations, for example:

- Straight Handle - [SHBM, SHSH, etc]
- Ergo (a.k.a e-handle) - [BM-e, SH-e, etc]
- Special Forces (for limited models) - [SFNO]
- Fusion - [FBM, FSH, etc]
- etc

So when you see another production run of the Battle Mistress or Steel Heart, you never know what the exact configuration will be. That being said, the older models do resurface now and again as special custom shop variants they are exclusively available at knife shows/events and ganzaas.

Also you can always order your model of choice from the custom shop directly, expect to wait about 2 years and pay betweek $125-$150 per INFI inch (OAL).

And of course there is always the very strong second hand market.

Also the Busse Company Store (not Busse Combat), will carry special color combinations of production runs after they are no longer available from Busse Combat so watch the store or this forum for posts from idahoskunk.

Hope this helps,

Thanks guys... it's as clear as mud, but I'm getting a much better picture now.

I can see the best thing really is to keep an eye out on the Exchange, as ordering one from Busse themselves sounds like a recipe for heart-ache.

BTW I checked out the Busse Company Store today and they had 3 Game Wardens in stock....

For your confusion, there are 3 different models in stock at the CS. (I peeked, there's 21 Muddies, 29 Urban/blk, 7 blk/blk currently in stock)

Don't cha just love it here

Really? I thought it was just one of each....

I was sorely tempted, but I'm really interested in a Meaner Streets or BATAC right now.

Never the one you want that's available, right? :grumpy:

Meaner Street's are nice...
