Yeah OK, I know it ain't much compared to what folks here have in their drawers at home, but believe me it is hard to land those suckers, particularly when your currency is in the toilet and...

well, that's enough of a reason to make it hard, actually :D

Anyway, Busse # 2 is a Game Warden... black on black. I was looking for a BAD but that price was too good to resist. It joins #1 - a BATAC, snake on tan.

So, what's next gents? I'm thinking ASH1 or Active Duty - either a BAD or a double cut...

Or a Leaner Meaner...

Oh man, its just the beginning of the end isn't it? :D

I don't know bro, sounds to me like you need a definitive Busse chopper for #3

I hear where you're at. A boney or standard active duty would get more carry and use time.
But, you need a chopper. FBM, NMSFNO, FSH, SFNO.
oh yeah.

Ok, I may have a line on a trade for a Battle Mistress...

Now, I get hella confused by all the different variations.

Can someone break it down for me please?

What are the different versions of the BM out there?

Thanks!

Ugh-I'm by far no authority on the subject but essentially what you have is the one with corrugated bevels, one with the full height grind, the saber grind, and the LE version. My personal favorite is the LE but the saber grind makes one hell of a chopper. The saber would be my second choice.
Then there's the NMFBM...Kind of a different beast.

Man, If you don't have an AsH1 yet... Go for it.. they are unbelievably powerful knives for their size.. I love these knives and will never part with them.. I've made 3 spec ops sheaths for them in different colors and it is great combo... the only one I don't have is the Skinny, and I'm contimplating trading for one of those just to have reduced weight...

I feel your pain with the Rand bru, you're doing well to have 2 Busse's - it's a little easier in £££'s !! May your collection grow to be as large as the number of daily hijackings in Gauteng !!

Ha ha... good one!

Yeah, the rand is sucking big time at the moment.

But let's see what happens... as long as we can keep hauling gold out of the ground we should be OK. :D

FBM - Corrugated Bevels
FFFBM - Saber grind, no bevels
NMFBM - Bigger than FBM, contoured
SHBM - Straight Handle, $1200+ price range
BM-E - E handle

Haven't had my first cup of coffee yet so I may be off on one :o

Allowing for the ease of purchase and value for money/use ability in all conditions if there is a Skinny Ash still in the store I would go to that size first.

If you like weight to performance it is great. The light weight larger choppers can be expensive as the older stuff is acknowledged to be the best by many....but the NMSFNO on the Busse site is a good option....possibly as big as you might want to carry in the heat of Durban. The old SHBM or straight handled Battle Mistress is a great knife for weight and performance....a Basic 9 with the rubber resperine C grip is also a great comfortable chopper....these are old school blades and come expensive although the Basic 9 is not too bad....just hard to find.

Personally for the benefit of a "shop" price which will always see your investment protected the NMSFNO would be a great choice for Africa.

Thanks guys...

At this stage I could only consider a Mistress on a trade basis. Cash is not an option right now.

I do have a possible line on one on the green forum. :)

It doesn't have corrugated bevels and its not the nuclear version, so would that make it the saber grind version?

Send me a pic. It's my screen name at gmail.com. Probably a Fat Flat Fusion Battle Mistress and one that I found to be the nicest of them all (Yeah, I went there LOL). :D

Hiya,

Looks similar, just the colour that's different.

I guess that must be it then. Well, let's see if he likes my offer.

There are FBMs without corrugated bevels floating around now, not many though.
