Howdy all,

The actual post with photos is in the Sheaths & Such forum. Wasn't sure of the best place to post it really so I posted there. It was suggested that I post it here as well but I thought I would just play it safe and say it is there if anyone is interested and wants to have a look.

Thanks,
Richard

Let's see them.

Hey Idaho, The nice thing about the leather and kydex together is you get the rigidity of the plastic and the softness and beauty of the leather. I've been doing them for quite some time and they hold up very well under adverse conditions. As y'all know I dont mold kydex, but Martin took it up a notch and did just that a couple years ago.

DADGUM that is awesome. I carry my Skinny ASH in the small of the back horizontally everyday in a kydex sheath. I used para cord to make some belt loops. That is most attractive looking sheath I've seen that would have the versatility I need. Email me when you make one for the Skinny Ash.

ps I bookmarked you site. Very Impressive!

I have used Richards work for years and this style is very practical for carry in the field. I hate having a knife slap around on my leg and draw attention when I am out in public. As I have said before Richard is a gentlemen and his work is of very high quality.

Thanks guys! A couple of the questions asked are addressed on my website which is my signature at the bottom of my posts.

Steelnut - Sorry, but my site is set-up to add shipping during the purchase process. I will probably offer a regular all leather sheath version for much less for those on a budget though.

ddungrat - The SFNOLE is one of the 3 knives I decided to start with and so recently purchased. It is next on my list followed by the NMSFNO. A snap strap version will be available at the same price but I haven't made one yet to show. Here is an example though (hope this works!):

Idaho Jarhead - Leatherman has the basic gist of it but there is actually quite a bit more to it and I do cover that question on my site.

Joe - Thanks for the plug old buddy!

Consider me smacked. :p I shant try to speak of kydex and leather together in your presence. :D

Nice work btw I look forward to seeing more.

Does American Buffalo hide possess any unique characteristics that make it a better sheath material?

Paua - Buffalo leather doesn't make for a better sheath leather, just different. Besides the great/different look, buffalo leather is quite tough (it's rather a pain to work with) and light surface scratches can be rubbed out. It is normally too pliable to use for knife sheaths and it doesn't mold or tool well either but in this case the pliability doesn't matter because the Kydex is underneath it to provide the needed rigidity/moldability.

It's a pity you don't do SFNO sheath with Buffalo leather anymore.
