I need help deciding which one to choose. Either get the Busse Basic 10, and buy a smaller 3in-5inch knife to go with it or ... Go ahead and buy the TGLB and get a machete for big bladed chores (chopping, delimbing, spliting, etc)

Bold statement: the Basic 10 just might have been the most underrated knife to be released from Wauseon in the last 5 years :foot:

Grab one while you can!! You will NOT be disappointed.

Yeah...What he said

The B10 is my favorite all time Busse, but I have to admit... I have a TGLB on the way because I just had to see what all the fuss is about. I still think the B10 is the best "Do-All" design for every time of year (HOT...it's lightweight for its size. A + for backpacking... and... COLD the Res-C handle is perfect for barehanded cold weather work).

Send me a PM in a few weeks and I'll give ya my thoughts once I've had a chance to fondle both.;)

They're two completely different different knives.
It all depends on what you want to carry but if you coupled B10 with a smaller knife (AMS, Rodents 3 or 4, 4-11) you would probably get all your needs covered aside from 'combat' knife. As stated above B10 is really light for it's size (it's actually lighter than coated TGLB!) and the Res-C handle makes a world of difference when chopping and batoning. It's very well balanced and you can comfortably use it for other cutting tasks.

TGLB could almost take a 'jack of all trades' spot with it's size, will cut, stab, chop and baton (the last two will rattle your hand some), so it could be a do it all knife if weight is concern.

The TGLB batons through wood very nicely. I have been playing around with mine doing some tough hardwood splitting.

For general wood processing when camping though I have gone the SILKY folding saw route rather than chopping wood/limbs.

I don't care how fantastic any knife is - breezing through wood with the incredible SILKY saw is much less expended effort and energy than chopping with any knife or even hand AX.

The SILKY folding saw is now a necessity item in my Bug Out Bag these days and I don't even bother lugging a hatchet or hand-AX camping anymore.

B10 is the absolute shiznit. TGLB has the Daryl Dixon cool factor-don't get me wrong, but if you are going to compare them...B10 every time.

B 10. It's simplicity makes it versatile. Like the favorite kitchen knife you always pull from the drawer first.

B11 :D

I sold my B10s rather quickly. Cool knife but the blade height was shorter than expected and the satin "LE" treatment [cost] wasn't for me on a basic series knife. Not sure what B10s are going for now but maybe consider a TGLB and a SY 911 at company prices while you can. 911 blade height is also short but it's a sweet knife that you can beat on, priced right.

Whatever you pick, you can't lose. Good luck in your decision

I'd actually recommend waiting a short bit longer for the Scrap Yard 11-11 to arrive, which would make a great pair with a Scrap Yard 4-11 (also should be available soon) or 3-11. With this setup, you should be able to handle just about anything you could imagine and it will cost you less than what a B10LE or TGLB will cost you.

If it MUST be a Busse (which is understandable), having had experience with the TGLB and B10LE I'd heartily recommend a choilless B10LE.

You will NOT be disappointed. I tend to go to my basic 10 over larger and smaller busses for any and every task. If I had to choose one knife to have it would probably be the b10.

If I just wanted knives to use, I would recommend the exact same thing. 9/11 or 11/11 pair it with a 411...It's on! I think the 911 is one bad dude in it's own right. Way better than the BK9, SP50 or Trailmaster. And others in that class. Very underrated blade. I own 3 of them :P

To me the BK9 felt weak and cheap. Sold it. Just paid for a B10, hopefully it won't disappoint. And I also have a TGLB kydex sheath that is useless since I'm not getting one anyone. Anyone have pics or videos of the B10?

Sorry... no video, but here are a couple pics of my two B-10's...(#360 & a DCBB show special)

Congrat's on your score!!!

Can someone take calipers to the edge of a B10 and post a measurement? I am curious about the edge geometry...

I know this is a little late, but...

...I may be able to take the measurements you need if you can walk me through it, I'm not sure where to measure.

As far as the two are concerned... now that I have had a chance to fondle my TGLB for a while... HANDS DOWN...The BASIC 10 is IT!!! The TGLB has grown on me A LOT since receiving it, but the B10 is soooo much more comfortable and versatile!!!

Here they are together and I'll post new pics once Al get's done with my newest sheath...
