I just recieved a NIB Busse Combat basic three and it is the first Busse ihave ever actually handled. Here are some first impressions after a couple of hours of playing with it.

I really like strong, short fixed blades and this is probably the closest to my ideal as I have seen. The knife has a 3 inch blade of something called modified infi which I understand is a proprietary steel of Busse's. They say its not as strong as regular old info. Ok whatefver. The edge looks very thick, steep if you will but strong and it seems very sharp. The blade comes to a useful looking point that keep lots of steel on the spine at the tip. I think the friggin' thing is near to a quarter inch thick at the spine just above the handle. The handle is some hard rubber like stuff that I believe is the same or similiaar to the handle material that Swamp Rat uses on many of its knives. The knife is all black, I don't know what the blade finish is. The sheath is a hevavy duty black leather pouch that covers aprox 3 quarters of the knife and seems to hold it quite securely and with a little practice allowing for a fairly fast draw. This sheath is not fancy and is not designed for rapid deployment or maximum security but has a fair combination of both especially considering the kife is certainly a primary utility tool as opposed to weapon. Though it is a hefty pointy sharp pice of steel and the plack rubber grip is tacky and ergonomic with a denent finger cut out.

ok 'nuf for now, gotta go find some stuff to cut;-)>

I have not used a Basic #3, had a #7 which was a great blade. The #3 should be a solid small utility tool.
