I just purchased what I believe to be a Busse Basic 5 from the online auction site. Does anyone know what the thickness of the blade is? I can't find the specs listed anywhere.

Love the Basic 5! Here's one next to a Basic 7.

The B5 is very comfortable and secure in the hand. It has a beefy blade at 1/4" thick. IMO, the perfect defense knife.

The specs that I have for my two (Smooth coat = SC, Crinkle coat = CC) are as follows: M-INFI; full flat grind w/ asymmetric edge; t = 1/4"; B height - SC = 1 & 3/16", CC = 1 & 7/32"; B length - SC = 5 & 3/8", CC = 5 & 9/16"; OAL - SC = 9 & 7/8", CC = 10 & 1/16".

The original Basic series was the Basic 3, 5, 7 & 9; all were 1/4" thick and made from modified INFI (M-INFI was very close to regular INFI at that time, both chemically and performance-wise). The Basic 3 & 5 had a smaller size handle than the Basic 7 & 9. The first Basics (3, 5, 7 & 9) had the same smooth coat finish as found on other Busse knives; later ones in this series had the crinkle finish.

The Basic 5 & 7 are two of my all-time favorite Busse knives!

Bonus points to the person who names the knife in the middle between the B5 and B4. ;)

Had to dig a bit for that,,, called Euro 4 also I believe.
What's the history/story with the European only releases?
