Hi Les,,,,,I believe new they went for $325.,,,,,I'm looking for the ""HOW MUCH IS THIS WORTH"" price,,,,gonna sell it for a dear ole friend, retired vet,,,UDT man (the stories he tells make yer hairs stand on end),,,,anyway,,can u help???

I think you're in the right ball park for the initial asking price. I passed on the whole "Basic" line and have little interest in them but, there are some here who will have a better idea of going value. I asked the question I did to give some of them a shove in your direction.

Thanks for the "shove" Les,,,,,,now when u say I'm in the ballpark for the
""initial"" asking price,,,,does that mean I can go higher or that I should be willing to compromise and go down????

If it's pristine, I'd guess you can go up a little. But, as I said, I am poorly versed in the market value of the Basics and as such have no idea what sort of appreciation you should expect.

Mona, I have seen the basic 9's go for between 190 and 240. The more time passes by the more they will go for as is true of everything else in the busse lineup. I wish I had bought all of them when they were out but like spearhead I had little interest. Now, I regret that, so I ended up buying a basic 7 and 9 neverused ones.

Mona, I concur with Cobalt... I had a couple basics and sold them within that price range. i would be surprised to see it go for more than about 250- but then these oinkers are a bit crazy so who knows!

$200 certainly sounds fair.

The Basics line was the Busse man's user series and great users they were; and are! Modified INFI; couldn't see a performance difference compared to INFI within the scope of my use though I never pushed the knives to extremus. Has anyone???

The Basic #7 is my favorite followed closely by the #5. Like a dummy I sold off my 3 and 9 thereby ruining my complete set of USA Basics.

That #9 is a heck of a knife, especially if there of chopping to do.

Well, as the Basics are basically INFI slightly modified, I can see them increasing in value as well. So right now it is better to keep them than sell them and let them appreciate. the Basic line was about $100 less than the combat line so I can see $250 in the near future for a B9. Right now, I would say 210 to 220. All the ones at 200 usually dissapear within a day or so.

I just sold mine to Cobalt for $190.00 with a Buy Brown sheath. I'm already regreting it.:) I think I might have to try out a Battle Rat now though.

LOL, I just emailed Mona with how much I bought it off you for. :D remember my immortal words, I never sell busse's. I only buy. If I sell then there is something seriously wrong. I think holding off for 220, she might get it as they are certainly worth it.

I just picked up Siegles Battlerat also, and they are very similar dimensionally, except the battlerat is wider in the blade, but the ergonomics is nearly the same. Same goes for the Basic 7 and Camp Tramp I have.

I think Cliff Stamp has!;) :D

Seriously, the Basics are still my all-time favorite knives! I enjoy the B5 for smaller stuff, the B9 is good for the big stuff, and the B7 is a great all around size. For those not real familiar with the Basics, the handle on the B7 & B9 is essentially the same size and shape as the one on the SH BA, only the Resiprene C is more comfortable to me.
