Hi guys

We all know how well Busses perform - how would a Busse Battle mistress compare to a HI khuk of around the same overall length in chopping ??

A long ways back I did a "review" of clearing some trees up to 4" thick with an HI Ang Khola and my Battle Mistress. The khukuri has the chopping advantage, but the BM holds its own, and keeps its edge a lot longer. I'd like to see how well the M.O.A.B. chops :)

depends on wich one. the 15" ak will outchop the bm in a heart beat, if only because of its weight forward design (whereas a lot of the battle mistress's weight lies in the handle).

the 15" sirupati is a little closer to its weight/lentgh... and to be honest, id probably say that the sirupati would to a little better, if only because of the greater tip speed. again, the handle is really light, so having everything set forward adds a lot to how much force you can get into the sweet spot.

that being said, i would never trade my large busse for a large khukri as my bag knife. because in a shtf nock down brawl in the woods or in crazy suburbia chaos, i feel the bm would keep going much longer after the khukuries handle had shattered of, and its edge chipped past the temper/usable limit line.

i do tend to use my khukuries for work more then my large busse's though...

but i may have a slightly different opinion when the mojo/mofo gets here :D

As far as chopping, khuks have the clear advantage. They are specialized to chop. They also weigh more.

The mistress is still a good chopper, but is more versatile and lighter. Overall durability is also probably stronger (handles, steel, etc.).

And yes, I'd love to see a MOAB go up against a khuk ;)
