I realize that this topic pops up regularly, but......

Can some of the hogs comment a bit more on the various blade coatings.

Not so much on how they look and feel when new (I got some safe queens), but more on how they wear.

Which is easiest to remove?
Do any hold up better to solvents or heat?
Which one smooths the best while retaining its color?
Which one can handle Krydex sheaths the best?
Which ones seem to be the most sought after?
Do some wear more evenly?
Qualities of different coatings (on users) that you particularly like or dislike?

Any insights will be greatly appreciated. Trying to decide on which become the users.

Thanks in advance.

Here are my answers;

Which is easiest to remove? the old green

Do any hold up better to solvents or heat? Black

Which one smooths the best while retaining its color? Black

Which one can handle Krydex sheaths the best?(kydex) Black

Which ones seem to be the most sought after? certain colors are rarer for different models I have a black SK that a lot of hogs would love to get thier hooves on:D

Do some wear more evenly? black seams to be the best

Qualities of different coatings (on users) that you particularly like or dislike? Black seams to be the best for users.

Hope this helps.

As an aside, if you want to remove the black finish I've stumbled on the right stuff. I've seen lacquer thinner recommended (stone age) but ARMOR COAT - Paint & Varnish Remover is amazing.

Short story: Fight plastic cap of aerosol can. Spray all over Heavy Duty. Put in pot and cover for 15 minutes. Brush one minute with brass brush. Spray again and return to pot for 15 minutes. Brush clean in less than five minutes. Dispose of vile hazardous waste. Micarta okay. Blade finish not bad with sort of cool pits on unground parts. Sand, grind, buff to satisfaction.
