Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I'm am new to the Busse Community and my first new Busse order was a Park Ranger. When buying used Busse blades, if the blade material isn't advertised is there a way to tell if it's infi, SR101, A2, etc?

Thanks,
Justin

That's what's I thought but wanted to double check.

Thanks, and I can see this being addicting!

Best advise, don't buy anything modified for the first couple of years. It's a lot harder to know about these until you know Busse knives really well. Buy unmodified user grade and you can use them all you want and won't loose money if your tastes change and you decide to sell.

Due Diligence is asking What the blade material is....With the "KIN" Swamprat, Scrapyard knives of the past were SR-77 and SR-101
and BUSSE was A2 D2 or INFI but without asking you might Get SR-101 Battle Grade when you were shopping for INFI. The Exchange is host to many buyers and sellers and most are reputable and will list in the description the Blade Material...IF it's not listed ASK!!!!
It's not always stamped on the blade there are "Sterile" models out that have no markings by request of the original purchaser. There are models that have been modified to include aftermarket blade finishes like satin and again worth asking what Steel is used.

That's great advice guys thanks.
I am looking forward to learning more. I am north of the boarder here in Canada and I see most of the used ones on the Busse forum tend to prefer to ship within the US but some say Canada. I'll keep my eyes open and also buy directly from Busse of course. :)

I happily ship to Canada with details worked out ahead of time, I have gotten used to filling out the forms now.

Don't forget Elmax, 154CM, 12C27. Also, there have been Rats and Dogs made from INFI, D2, and the other three steels I mentioned, as well as SR-101 and SR-77. There may even be a couple others I haven't mentioned, but that's most of them.

Original Steel Hearts if my mind is working (Daddy of the ASH so it is why it stuck in my mind clearly.. ;) ).

There was 5160 but don't recall if they did much or just passed it off to Gingrich? I just touched on a few of the more recent steels although Elmax in many of the smaller slicing models has been active.
