Looking over the busse range I was quite curious as to the comfort of the handles.

While they do look amazing, and seem textured to afford excellent grip I'm some what worried about the presence of open rivits on the surface as I've always been told to avoid these.

My concern is that with a bare hand through extended useage these rivits would quicken the onset of blisters.

Could anyone put rest to this idea ?

Cheers

Rest easy. I have never had a blister induced by any fasteners on a Busse. The old ones were flush with the scales and the new ones are inset.

Mindz_I,
I spent about 4-5 hours this weekend past using a Steel Heart. During this time I was chopping, batonning though wood, skinning saplings and pointing post/stakes- during this time I did create a bit of a blister but it was on the palm, near the base of my thumb- now as a profession I am a computer operator- so my weekend "rough work" usually does raise a blister or two. The open rivets were unnoticed during my use. Your mileage may vary but I wanted to offer something of my use.

Was using a SH SHII this weekend... chopping down several saplings and limbing them. The only thing I noticed is that the "bird'shead" style end of the handle has a tendency to dig into the pinky under full swings... as the handle slides forward in my grip. Ideally, I might like a handle approximately 1/2" longer and with a little more palm-swell to avoid this and to give me a tad more leverage in chopping-type swings. Otherwise... this sucker cuts and easily lopped off 1/2" limbs with one stroke...

And no blisters anywhere!

I concur; I've never had a problem with the fastners. My hands aren't very tough, however, and over extended use my pinkie gets some blisters. One thing to remember is, try to avoid chopping when tired. Blisters come from movement, and you have a worse grip when you're tired.

No problems here..... My Natural Outlaw does the job and asks for more..... but, I am a plumber now and there's not much room left on my hands for blisters, what with all the scars and calouses:p
