Last night I read all I could find hear on the forums about the Brute since thats what I'm wondering about most because the Busse is already said to be almost unbeatable.

Most of what I found was rather old, shortly after they (the Brute) come out. Now I'm wondering since there has been time for more "using" is it still well liked?

I like the Busse alot but for the money and since I'm going to be using it I am looking hard at the Brute. I've read it's heavy. I am 6'5" and 250lbs. Not that concerned with alittle on the heavy side. I read where the handle is big, again not an issue. I want to know what people are still thinking about it.
I want a knife to use for all around camping, outdoor, chopping, hiking, ect. Not food prep, have another for that.

I guess my real issue is the money difference. For the price of one BM I could have three+ of the BK&T's (or one and $200.00 in my pocket).

Could I get some of your opinions please?

BTW I don't like the Busse basics.

Thanks in advance, Dave

For around 83 dollars you really can't get a tougher, larger knife than the brute. Plus it comes with a very well made kydex sheath. The only problem I have with mine is that the edge is very thick and it doesn't work very well as a machete. But it wasn't designed for that, and that's why I have ordered the Bush Hog. The first thing I said when I got the brute was, this is one serious knife. It is thick, heavy and strong enough to kick some ass. If you are going to compare it directly to the busse, the busse will probably out perform it in the cutting and slicing catagories. But you are paying some serious buck for that knife. I would say the brute would be good for your needs, especially since you will not be using it for the light food work. It really doesn't work for that. I might have to end up filing the edge of my brute down a bit since it is so thick, but other than that it is a very good knife.

another thing, if you are worried about the durability of the blade don't distress. It is a .25in. thick piece of steel sandwiched between super hard handles. What gross failure could possibly happen to a knife that simple and big? Unlike a percision folder, time doesn't really bring out the slop in a fat fixed blade like this. Mine is the same as the day I got it, just uglier now that I've worn the coating. The edge on mine has not chiped or performed poorly for me while hacking on wood for the past 3 months either.

Where did you see or get the Brute for $83.00? Best I found was $99.00.

What is the Bush Hog? Haven't heard of that. Thanks, Dave

I have mine, and I love it! I posted a few times about it. I am just smaller and little compared to you (5'8" and 170) so I find it a little on the heavy side.

IT DID EVERYTHING i asked of it well. I carried the Brute, a smaller fixed blade, and a good folder, and I could have DONE ANYTHING with the Brute that the other two did!

Go for it! It is well worth t!
