Busse Bug Bites Again... and a sheath question

Well, it has happened.
After lurking here for a couple of years, and drooling over Busse and Swamp Rat knives for the same amount of time, I just parted with a large chunk of dough, head of cabbage, and/or ... err ... money.
I do this in the hope that I will soon look out my door to find a very big piece of INFI looking for a home.

A black AK-47, to be exact.

I decided to start as big as possible and work my way down. :-)

I know this is just the beginning...

And now for the question:
Now that I spent all my $$ on the knife/sword (knord?) I don't have much for a sheath.
I do, of course, need a good sheath, so I would like some recommendations on someone who could make one that is:
Quality, of course.
Not too expensive (no idea what it will cost, any ideas?).
Someone to whom I would not have to send my AK (I am SURE I will not be able to part with it once I have my hands on it).

Thanks to all who keep this forum going,
Bitpusher

Have you lost your mind?

Why not OD?:D

Seriously, I have cut zombie heads off with a black/black AK. It worked just fine. :D

Congratulations on your AK purchase. Way to go, diving head first into the INFI trough. Welcome to the INFIction.

I know David Brown has made Kydex sheaths with his AK, and I think Leatherman might also have an AK if you're looking for leather. I'm not sure about the other sheathmakers on the Busse Combat Sheathmakers pages.

I'm sure you'll get more suggestions over the weekend from the regulars around here.

That was the one.

All of these look to be of good quality.

I know Brown and Okuden are good to deal with. Have not dealt with the other person.

Thanks.

Uh oh, I'm "the other guy" again. ;) Hmm, on second thought its kinda intriquing being the "other guy"

I cant reccomend either one more than the other, both Dave and Brian (Brown and Oku) are fantastic makers in their own styles. Dave may have some "in stock" scabbards. My wait time is over 12 weeks right now so unless your really patient....... :o I do have an AK though so leather is a possibility on my end. :)

Oops. Leatherman, a thousand apologies. I did not realize that was your work, but was thinking it had came from someone I had never heard of before.

I have handled numerous Leatherman sheaths and his work is first rate. Do not hesitate to deal with him. :D

Wow, I like the fold-over kydex.
(BTW, I did try to search the forum for info. The search never works for me with more than one word.)
Would leather or Kydex be more expensive? Are there any pics of leather AK sheaths around?
Thanks,
Bitpusher

Ah hah! now I figured it out! I thought you were talking of me, and you were really talking of that other kydex fella huh! Looks like we had some crossover thinking here. :D The reason I picked up on it so quick was that I was the "other guy" a while back. :p It was kind of fun! In my own warped way. ;)

I'm not sure but I think the full search function isnt available to basic members.
Leather and kydex sometimes run neck and neck in price, but normally leather is more expensive. I hand stitch, no machines, so its a lot more labor intensive. Some of the leather workers have a machine which lowers the cost a bit. I do a combination of leather and kydex if you want the best of both worlds.:)
I know I cant be the only one that has made a leather AK sheath! Anyone out there have one?

The top and bottom ones are kydex/fusion (layers of kydex and leather, lined with leather)

I am making a few AK sheaths for Blade & I am running a special for Blade send me a e-mail:D

Nice Bio sheaths cow-bender, those look really nice.

Are you going to Blade?????????????

Holy Cow Leatherman! No pun intended. Those sheaths look Awesome!

Beautiful sheaths, Leatherman. I'll have to get some of your work sometime.
How much does something like the second from the top run?
Best of both worlds means durability of Kydex/Look of leather? What other pros/cons for sheath material?
I am entirely new to this high-end knife world.
Thanks,
