Hi Knife experts,

was looking for web based seller for the busse Bushwacker Mistress, if possible located in Canada so I don't have to deal with customs. Last thing I bought nailed me with a 90$ fee on a 300$ buy. 30% fee is overdoing it!

Also any sheaths recommended for this knife? I was a bit disappointed when I heard it didn't come with a sheath, coming from Rat Cutlery I'm used to high quality sheaths (see rc-5).

Also any competitors for a knife of this quality and length? Was opting first to go with a Esee Junglas, but I hear INFI steel is better than 1095 so wanted to give it a try for myself.

Anyway thanks guys!

Busse ships knives to Canada all the time.

The Scrapyard dogfather 10" condura sheath works well with this knife.

I got a package via FedEx. They hit me with a $30 fee: $5 duty and a $25 customs brokerage fee. That really burned me up. I have had much better luck with USPS.

Edited to add: By the way, for leather sheaths, I've dealt with a great guy in Toronto. His name is Vadim Grynko, and his website is vessleatherworks.com. Eric Noeldechen is near Windsor, Ontario, and he is one of the best when it comes to synthetic sheaths. His site is onscenetactical.com, and there is a good chance that he'll actually have a BWM in stock. Both of these guys are top notch. I've had each of them to custom one-off work, and the sheaths came out looking like they should have come with the knives.

This guy here Vadim Grynko vessleatherworks.com will not ship sheaths to anyone who lives in Ontario.

His work is definitely top notch tho.

Thanks for the info guys, so guess busse sells their knives only directly to customers. No resellers like for Sebenzas or Striders?

Also thanks for the sheath info, will check that guy in Toronto. Wish Busse would step up and make sheaths for their creations like rat's great Kydex sheath! The Sheath for the Junglas sure looks like a beast!

I feel your pain man, me it was an icom ic-88 marine transmitter. Payed 270 bucks for it and Fedex nailed me with a 92.15$ import charge. I was soooo pissed!

Edit : Just checked onscenetactical.com, site seems broken all images wont show and product page is broken. Either site is undergoing update or site is no longer working.

Wanted to get the knife new from the manufacturer, so not really into those boards, but thanks for the info!

I just wanted to PM you some links to a few new items that are cheaper, without possibly breaking the rules here and directly posting links to specific retailer's ads. Going on vacation shortly so have ran out of time. Nothing wrong with the Bushwacker Mistress though if you want to spend that much money (except I personally don't like coated blades).

Thanks will fix that! Yeah opened to suggestions for sure. Busse seems good but if there are other options that perform as well I am definitely all ears. Not much into hype, so a good performer will beat a collection piece any day! Its one of the reasons I was looking at the Junglas, if in the end it performs as well as the Busse I might go down that road! Was looking basically for something that could replace a long machete (without the extreme length) and still work as a large camp knife.

A trip in the jungles of Brazil might be in my roadmap in the near future, so would be nice to stock on a good performer!

Edit : I understand your point of view on coated blades, I also used to believe coating was pointless, but it seems high carbon blades will need some protection from rust. For heavy use high carbon seems the best type of steel. It will maintain a good edge and will not chip as easily as other stainless steels.

Was reading some forums and it seems Fallkniven does some nice coatless knives, but after reading they use VG10 I'm not sure it will withstand heavy abuse for a long time without chipping.

If a seller can't ship via USPS I generally wont buy the knife.

UPS will slap you with a 60-80 brokerage fee even if the customs they had to cover was only 5 dollars. That is beyond criminal in my opinion.
