I just wanted to find out if the Busse coating is safe to use on foods and what exactly it is made of?

Thanks, Steve

I think that the general consensus is that yes, it is safe to cut food with it, however the less the better. For more often and long term cutting of food a DC or satin finish is preferred.

This was actually a concern of mine when I got my first Busse, and went with the satin finish just to be on the safe side.

pigment, base powder, thinner and hardner.

maybe a little metal powder.

if you call up any powdercoater, much of the ingrediants they give will be the same as busse uses.

I might want to take it off for the shiny/brushed look. Has anyone tried this?

As long as you're not cutting anything with bones, I wouldn't worry about any of it coming off anyway.
