busse colour help

so i just got a team gemini light brigade, black with a black and red G10 handle, and to be honest i regret my colour choice. so I'm going to sell this one and re order.
am i correct this one is a black canvas with a stripped blade?
i think thats the look i really want, and the G10 seems a bit slippery for my liking. plus i like the way the canvas gets some dirt engrained it with use.
whats the best stuff to use to strip the paint off the blade that won't damage the handles?

my other dilemma is do i get another black blade, or the tanker grey? I'm going to stip it most likely, but what looks best to start?

Hi there! Welcome to the forums. That knife there is mine and yes you are correct - it is a stripped blade with black canvas handle slabs. It was originally a tanker grey coating.

I stripped it with ordinary old 2 pak paint reducer. With a little soaking and a scrub with an old tooth brush the paint came off with ease. Canvas micarta and G10 are pretty much impervious to everything except fire.

I'm a long time member here, just been reading not posting until today.

the red and black G10 i think could look nice if i stripped the blade, but i don't really want to do that as it may effect the resale if i still don't like it, so i think ordering a new canvas one is a safer bet..

in the meantime its not so bad waiting again for the new order, buses forgot to include the spec ops sheath i ordered, so i have nothing to carry the knife in anyway right now. hopefully thy respond to my email about that soon to let me know where the sheath is.


one more question, did you basically strip it and leave it? or did you polish it at all? i love the tarnished look of yours.

Just strip and use brother!!!
I have the same knife as Rob but hand smoothed the scales and added the zero edge. I also have tube rivets now not the hex fasteners.

i just ordered a black blade with black canvas. hopefully got a buyer lined up for my red and black G10 version.

just sucks it won't arrive for the first bit of camping season. hopefully busse get back to me as well to figure out where my sheath went. I'm guessing just a simple mistake they forgot to pack it.
 
What sheath did you order with it ? The only ones I recall them offering for the TGLB up was the Spec-Ops but that was when they were released. I had not seen a new one ?

I just stripped and left it as is. It has developed and nice patina too. I think it was a little lighter in colour when I first stripped it. INFI patinas tend to be pretty even and look greyish in colour.
 
I would think that if you posted a straight-up trade on the trade board you would likely get a taker. sounds a little late now, though.

FWWW, I have always preferred a satin (or stripped) blade with black canvas over all other combos. I like the basic, functional look.

I did think about that, but living in Canada makes shipping to the USA a pain and I plan on keeping this knife and using it for life, so I'd rather start with a brand new one.
I've got a few people interested in mine, and with the long wait for these I'm able to basically ask what I paid for it and people will pay it to avoid waiting months for their order.

Plus, I've emailed busse to see if I can add a swamp rat rodent 3 to the same order. I think I will try and rig up the rodent in a sheath with the team gemini as a good small knife is often very useful.

Has anyone got any experience about adding busse kin knives to a busse order?

Here's the current one, I've never seen anyone post a picture of this exact colour combination.

So my new black canvas with black blade arrived yesterday. So I got to work stripping it.

I gave it a good spraying with the stripper. And all the finish came off easily apart from a few stubborn spots that look almost like scabbed skin.

Any suggestions on removing these, but still achieving the same look as the picture in the first post of this topic? Some steel wool?

I did. And my scraper was melting. I guess a plastic putty knife doesn't like paint stripper.
I'll try another scraper maybe. But these bits seem pretty hard. The rest scraped off easily with the scraper and a scrubbing brush.

Did you put that edge on or did you send it to someone?
