Hi everyone

I'm a newbie here, was looking for a knife and bumped into Busse Combat by accident, read all the info they had available there, did some research over the net, liked what I saw. Even joined this forum cuz wanted to know more about Jerry Busse and the beautiful knives his company makes. I don't plan on starting a collection or anything, I just want to get a good reliable tool knife ....
Well, after doing some research, and after seeing lots of custom Busse knives, I finally decided to e-mail them for some info on how to proceed to get one. To my surprise, after a couple of e-mails, I'm yet to hear from them, so here's my question. How does their customers service work? Is Busse Combat a company that doesn't really care about the new wanna be customers or it was just bad luck? Is Busse Combat a company that only cares about selling and doesn't even bother about "educating" the people who, like me, still don't know about them, and maybe..... they'll end up getting more and more "new happy customers?"
Well that's it for now, great discussion forum we have here

I often have very poor luck in getting responses to email with Busse. They are very busy I'm sure, so don't give up. A lot of custom makers take months to answer, if you ever do get one. Fortunately, Busse gives their phone #, so try that. The folks answering will always be as helpful as they are able, and very pleasant to deal with.

IMO they work very hard to make everyone happy. However, this time of year IMO is one of the most difficult times for them to field all the incoming, and still have knives ready for KC and blade in a month or so- especially with the recent NMFSH ganza that they still are trying to recover from. Not to mention the cupidganza coming this week.

So I suggest that ....emails work best for ganza's, finishing orders and collecting payment. Questions and orders are much easier by phone.

If you have any general questions please post a thread here as most here are capable and willing to help:)

Rest assured someone is trying to, and will get to you as soon as possible. In no way should you believe you are being ignored......just in line:thumbup::cool:

Welcome to the madness:D

Well said, and much better put than my response. What it amounts to, is that they do very good at taking care of us.

I don't know if it's trouble receiving e-mails or responding to them. A phone call always works. The knives on bussecombat.com are available to order and there's a Ganzaa on Thursday night that you can participate in if something strikes your fancy (there's a sticky post at the top of the forum by Jerry Busse explaining it). If an old model is what you are interested in, your best bet is the exchange here on blade forums. A mark up of 20-30% off of the original price (which can be found in another sticky) is expected and reasonable. You may have to post a WTB (Wanted to Buy) thread if it's more rare and possibly pay a premium. Caveat emptor--you may get some unsavory contacts wanting to sell you knives at a considerable mark-up but any regular here will give you a helping hand/advice including the two mods knife hunter and Jaxx. Good luck!

Yeah, give'em a call if you want immediate assistance (I notice you didn't give a timeframe, you just said you've sent them a couple of emails and if it's only been a couple days or weeks, your expectations might be unrealistic), whenever I've called during business hours, someone has always almost immediately answered the phone.

Also keep in mind it's a small shop with lots of proprietary materials and processes that they simply won't discuss. You've read the literature on their site, it says they run on a strict closed shop policy, so say Lexi gets your email and you have a specific question that's not something standard, even if she knows the answer, she's got to make sure it's not confidential information before she can get back to you.

...also, you could try either from or to a different email, cuz your email could be getting caught in a spam filter.

I've been a direct customer for a few years and a secondary customer for maybe eight or so and I've gotten responses to most emails and I admit, not getting responses is aggravating, but there's no excuse for getting upset when you can always call.

So what was your question you emailed to them? There are a bunch of knowledgeable people around here. Some are good with prices, some with practical use, some with science related stuff (resinguy :)), sheath/carry experts, maintenance masters, collection aficionados, etc. I often forget that there are other forums on BF because we have everything right here.

Jpaes,

Welcome to the Busse family! I apologize for the lack of communication on our end. We have been very busy due to the upcoming Cupid Ganzaaa. We do not like to leave customers unsatisfied. If you would allow, we would really appreciate the chance to make things right. Please email me at pokey@bussecombat.com and we will make sure you are all setup to order your first Busse knife! Please feel free to call the office at (419)923-6471 if you have any questions.

I will talk to you soon!

Also, you have to give it some time. The volume we are talking about here is pretty big.

I think that many emails get bounced directly to spam as well.

The people over at Busse care and want you to want there knives. They've always answered any question I had that they could. But then again I called. Calling is best. And you get direct response. They welcome us noobs with open arms. And they post here to, as you can see buy pokey responding to you here.

Agreed with all of the above. It's very rare to find a knife company that has a community this good or employees that care and interact with their customers as much as the Busse crew do. Sure, the legendary prowess of INFI is what first drew me to their knives but its the staff and community that keep me coming back and interested in what's around the corner next. They are usually quick with a response, but it's probably been hellishly busy considering they're in the middle of a product switchover. Take Pokey up on her offer to contact directly; she'll have ya sorted in no time. Oh, and trust me, the wait is worth it once you unwrap your first blade. I'd recommend the Team Gemini Light Brigade AKA the Walking Dead knife.

Hi Everyone

I'd like to thank all of you very very much. I really liked to hear all your comments. It would be unfair if left this topic without leaving a huge "thank you" to Pokey and Lexi for the quick response to this posting. I will get in touch with you very soon.

Thanks a lot everyone

I don't have a Busse knife (yet) but have been communicating with Pokey and spoke to Jennifer a little on facebook and have found they are as helpful and accommodating they can be. Given the subject of my email I feel Pokey has been going above and beyond to try and help me. I had to wait a couple of days for a reply but being that they are a busy company I thought that was fine. I know of many companies that will not reply at all. Rest assured your email will be taken care of and I imagine all your questions answered.
And although you may not be a collector yet from what I read on this forum you buy one you will want more

Ian
