I have the opportunity to buy a Busse Combat German 4.5" knife. I couldn't find this model on Busse's website. Has it been discontinued? Could anyone tell me a little about the steel and heat-treatment of this knife? What did it retail for? Will Busse's lifetime warranty apply for me if I buy this knife used?

Does the knife have the Micarta Handle or the resiprene C handle? That will tell you which steel it is made of and what it retailed for. And yes the warranty is still good if you buy it used.

See if you can find it at Bussecombat.de

Tristan, welcome to the forums.

As Nick pointed out, check the Busse-Germany site. Some models offered in that market are not available stateside.

When you get your new toy, some pics would be great. If you can't post, send the pics to me and I will post them for you.

Good luck on your pending addiction...

(duh, will this be your first Busse??)

Tristan,
Welcome to the Busse forum. Nick and Mike handled your questions but I thought I could at least welcome you.

I hope you stick around and join in our discussions

Hi guys,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I'm a little puzzled, because the knife looks very much similar to the Swamp Rat Bandicoot (http://www.swampratknives.com/knives.html). The handle look very similar; no micarta. Nothing on the german Busse site. I'm fairly certain that the blade had "Busse" or "Busse Combat" stamped on, though. I may have got the length wrong, it could be 4 inches and not 4.5. I'll look further into this tomorrow, when I have a chance to re-examine the knife.

Hi TB,
What you may have is a Busse basic 4 which I believe was only offered through our German Friends. Anyone ? Anyone??

I found that the update of the Busse Germany site no longer has pics of the Basic series, at least I couldn't find any.

Does it look like the blade at the bottom of this pic?

from the top, Basic 6, Care Taker, Combat 4, & Basic 4.

Yes, only difference is that the blade is black-coated. Now, I only have to decide whether I can drop $150 on yet another knife... ;)
