Here it is:

3/16" A2 steel (edge thickness 0.020", satin finished flat grind, HT by Paul Bos to HRC 60), blow torched ivory linen Micarta slabs, 303 stainless steel rivets.

I couldn't afford one of the real ones, so I ground my own. All I gotta do is make a leather sheath now. :)

Slabs remind me of the carved/sculpted stuff becoming popular right now. I happen to like Jens Anso's style. Blow torching gives a wood-like effect.

A2 is a good choice - Jerry used it on his early knives.

One word of caution - you might want to be careful with the front Talon hole. I'm pretty sure Jerry has it trademarked. He's probably not going to go after you if you don't start selling these, but Jerry's a good guy and IMHO it would be nice to respect his designs. You're homage is good enough that the talon hole and overall look could cause confusion on the secondary market if the blade ever left your posession - a collector might mistake your work for a prototype, custom, or reworked oddity from the Busse shop. Maybe a name stamp is in order - it would clearly show it's not a Busse, and the knife would look great with your name above the finger choil.

Overall, great piece of work. I hope you have a chance to post some performance reviews!

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Don't worry, I won't be selling this one -it's just a one off for me. I plan on etching my mark on it after I make the sheath. I've already chopped a 2 x 4 in half and it still easily shaves! :D

Great idea on how to color the handles! I'd have never thought of that, and it looks perfect! VERY cool!

thats a great lookin blade, the handle has a lot of character and really makes it stand out.

I'm a fan of Busses... and really like this one as well.

What is the specs on the blade length and width? This looks like a great chopper/camper.

Hot handle and knife

There you go, great idea on the handle, the look is good and you get some notching for grip.

How does it feel when gripping?

Real comfy and secure. I like it. Looks kinda like burnt bamboo.
