Hey there HOGs!!!! Our dear friend Renee is running in the Boston Marathon and is dedicating her race to Jennifer's dad Ben Cartwright and to aid in the fight against the devastating disease Alzheimers that took his life.

She will be wearing the Busse Combat "No Regrets" Logo that Rob Stanley created and we are all very excited for her.

She qualified for the Boston Marathon after only having run in 2 other marathons. YOWZA!!!!!!

We are looking to raise some money for this cause and I will be issuing a shop credit in the amount of 50% of whatever you donate!!! (Be sure to email Lexi at lexi@bussecombat.com and let her know the amount of your donation.)

So, you can help support Renee, Help to wipe out Alzheimers, Make a tax deductible donation, and Score some half priced INFI!!!. . . AWESOME!!!!!

Thanks to all who can contribute and please take a moment to read the following letter from my wife Jennifer.

Jerry

To all of our friends and extended family,

As many of you know our family was hit hard by the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s six years ago. On December 23 my father passed away after a struggle with the disease. Most people know that Alzheimer’s patients “forget” things, but many do not realize the severity of this. It is not a matter of simply reminding the patient of facts, or reminding them to do something. They eventually forget nearly everything they have known including how to swallow food or water. Many even forget their own spouses and children.
It is for these reasons that Alzheimer’s research is so important to me. You can imagine how touched I was when my dear friend Renee’ Dukate told me that she was going to be running the 2012 Boston Marathon on April 26th as a member of Team “Run for the Memory” in memory of my father Benjamin Cartwright. To know Renee’ is to know that this is the kind of person she is… she takes one of the biggest and greatest endeavors and accomplishments of “her” life and make so much of it about others, and for others. Knowing Renee’ the way that I do, I have no doubt that with each step of her 26.2 mile journey she will push through the pain, thinking of the pain that Alzheimer’s patients and their families have gone through. This is just how she is. ;-)
Renee’ has already passed her goal of raising $1000 in contributions. All proceeds go directly towards the advancement of research as well as to improve the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's by providing enhanced care and support for all affected.
I am writing this to ask for your help in eliminating this horrible disease. I hope you will respond generously with a tax-deductible donation by visiting her personal fundraising webpage at:

Thank you so much for your consideration,

Jennifer Busse

Jennifer , that's a very touching letter . Alzheimer’s has not touch my family personally , but I have known 2 families that have had to deal with this long illness . Although your husband gets nearly ALL of my disposable income , I will try to gather up what I can and pledge it through your company in the next little while .

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

Can we get extra shop credit if we snap a pic of her during the race. I "should" be there to see my SIL run. . . provided it's not too hot or cold that day.

It's basically cheating these days versus a decade or more ago. They have these chips that are trackable, so you aren't looking like a Titanic deckmate searching for bergs for 3 hours. You have about a 10 min window to know when your runner is going by. My SIL is funny - she stops and takes pix with the kids and all. ????? I can't imagine running 22 miles, stopping for 5 min and running another 4. Just let me get done with it! I guess that's why I don't run. It IS about the destination, not the 3 hour agonizing journey. =)
