Busse Combat Decides To Go Backwards!!!!

We thought that the best way for Busse Combat to continue its innovation was to zig when we were expected to zag!!!! In order to advance forward, we have chosen to go backwards. Confused? Good! So were we! Before Busse Combat hit the beach in ’92 I had over 10 years as a full-time maker. The best part about making custom knives was the individual attention and options that could be given to each customer’s order. Giving the customer a number of options and choices becomes nearly impossible as you start marking the production numbers that we hit nowadays. The good news is that we think we have a plan that will allow us to return to the individual service of those early days and to offer you guys as many options as possible.

We will be separating our civilian production from our law enforcement and military runs. Our civilian produced pieces will have a far better fit and finish than will our mass production runs. They will have many options available at no charge including differences in blade color and handle color. They will be run in date determined batches thus making it much easier for us to provide you with more accurate delivery dates. These delivery dates should not be affected by team orders unless we are at war. Our online ordering has been changed and will no longer automatically charge your card at the time of order.

The batches will be by model and once a batch date is passed, all subsequent orders will be included in the following batch. These batches will be running in approx 2-3 month increments. For example, if you miss out on the first batch of Fusion Steel Hearts it could be anywhere from 4 to 6 months before the next batch reaches completion. The second batch may, likewise, have different options available than the first batch. We are hoping that this will “fuse” many of the features of the Busse Custom Shop with the production power of Busse Combat. We will offer as many different options as possible from batch to batch. You will no longer have to settle for a standard model, but can have the exact knife you want, with the options you want, made specifically for you. This new protocol will dramatically increase our cost of manufacturing but should also greatly increase our customer satisfaction. This should prove to be very helpful for our new customers who do not understand the concept of “2 weeks”. Sadly, the “2 weeks” call should quickly become a thing of the past.

More later,

Jerry

That is the best thing I have heard in a while. Busse continues to set a new and higher standard for others to follow. Nice plan folks!
:D :D When can we place our orders for the Fusion Steel Hearts?:p :p :D :D :D

Now we are @#$%$%^ talking baby!

This is indeed a great day people...man Jerry, this must have had some serious amounts of CBL involved! You sure you did not sneak a couple of Brain Power Guiness in there somewhere!?

great move I say - 3 cheers mate!

Thanks boys! We think this idea will rock!

Gundster, Gotta love that avatar you have!!!

I remember how dazed I was when Kassi asked me if I wanted my BM-F in black or tan. "How much extra for tan? Nothing? Well shoot, give me tan!"

This is decidedly a good thing.

Jerry, that avatar is MY knife! I have liked the look of it since I saw it and dare say, more than anything you have done thus far. EVEN THE MOJO! Lets see how she feels in comparison...

...can I still use it? ;)

As for having these new models any way you want them, I prefer green eyes, long legs, thin with tan handles.

I knew a green eyed model once...model, yeah, I guess you could call her that.

her name was urm, Jade....okay, I will have one of those too!

*WACK!* Owe! What? always watchin me.... :grumpy:

Out of curiosity, would legal Military, and Law Enforcement models be made available to the public? Would they be sold in a manner similar to the Desert overuns? Other than that, it's nice to see a company trying to find a way to maintain quality and build individualism instead of seeking the lowest common denominator.

Jerry! Super yum! If these are some of the ideas you get when imbibing CBL, I'll see if I can line up a liver donor for you!

Cheers,
BJB :D ;) :p

Jerry, those are some great ideas. If I may add my own: keep the website updated regularly and put info like this on there. I wish the information on badmojo.tv were there, too. I believe excellent communication is the cornerstone of excellent customer service, and the website (at least for me) is your storefront, the face of Busse Combat many will see before they get to the forums. I was lucky when I ordered my first Busse; I was able to talk directly to you and got my SJCG in a week. But I know some will order from the website, see the charge on their credit card, and not see anything come in the mail. They may email a few times to inquire, but may not get a reply at all (it's happened to me). A phone call will settle things but why let it come to that? The customer is already upset and you've got damage control to do. You could avoid some misunderstandings simply with a more thorough FAQ. IIRC the FAQ hasn't been updated in over two years.

I've never been to a knifemaker or company website and said, "Gee, they have way too much information on their knives and the ordering process." I doubt many people do. Some of the stuff posted here is pure gold, and I hate to think that someone new to Busse Combat will have to dig through the forums to find it. I believe Busse Combat blades are even more outstanding than what you state on the website. I know you guys are busy (and Jerry you should be chained to the grinder anyways! ;) ), but please work on the website. Your customers will thank you! :)

Well shoot...I knew that being in the military would some day bite me in the butt. Now I'm going to have to buddy up to some civilian to order my knives through! ;) :D

Man, that is a lot to take in. I think I am going to have to read that again. I am sure more will become clear when it gets up and running.

When I first heard about the price increase combined with no more sheath, I was a little saddened. But now that I see Busse is making their 'standard' line, not so standard, I am a happy man. It gives the term Semi-Custom, a whole new meaning.
