I just saw a Busse composite knife listed on Ebay. The description says that Busse made a small number of these before the government asked him to halt production. Is this true? When were these made? What are they worth? Why would the government ask him to stop making them? Could they get past metal detectors??? I find this intriguing. Any information would be interesting.:D

The government didn't ask Busse to stop making the Stealth Hawk. The material used to make the knife is called MP45 and is some type of laminated polymer. The EPA halted production of the plastic due to the carcinogenic fumes produced during its production. Busse couldn't get the material and then stopped producing the knife.

Homeboy, keep your eyes on the "Knives for Sale", they
usually come up. I think there's two versions they
only differ in tip profile. I've seen the standard
tipped one go for as little as 100.00.

Shomer-Tec had some of the last ones. If you can find a catalogue, you will find a good write up on the abilities of this knife. They may still have a couple. Haven't checked in a while.

These have been hammered through a 55-gal drum without breaking.

They are reputed to be able to pass magnetic screening, but I would advise STRONGLY against taking one on a plane. If you do, you may find it hard to post on here from prison computers.

I've never seen one with green para-cord before, unless it was one of the last to leave the factory.

They listed for $137, with an optional front break sheath for $16 extra.

Each was hand made and hand ground, and weighs only 3 ounces.

Nice find and addition to a collection.

Mike
