Busse Edge/Grind Geometry?

The vast majority if my sharpening is done on a Sharpmaker. Touching up my Ritter Grip and Paramilitary is easy, reprofiling my smaller Sypderco dragonfly was easy. In sharpening those, the factory edges were not changed.
However, sharpening my Game Warden and SAR 5 I've notice that one side of the edge will appear to be steeper than the other . I think it's an illusion and perhaps the hand grinding makes an asymettrical edge. On my game warden, the full height grind does not appear to be equal on both side.
Am I crazy or are there slight differences causing the edge to appear to be asymetrical?

They are hand ground, so there will be some variations. I find that on many of my knives, I tend to sharpen one side a bit more than the other, so edge bevel appears not exactly even.

I have had the same thing happen to me when I sharpen knives on the edge pro, sometimes its just the way the light hits or the way you look at it. But on some I know for sure that the edge is uneven. Not even a machine can make the edge perfectly even, if I were you I would not worry too much.

Thought so. I wasn't worried about the knife at all, just wondering if somehow my technique was WAY off.

The majority of my Busse edges have been uneven, some quite obviously. I've never been overly concerned as I reprofile them anyway.

If you use an edgepro to reprofile your knives, the edges should be pretty even. I try to sharpen my Busses to 30 degrees or 40 degrees inclusive. That way I can easily use a sharpmaker for maintenance and the angles stay even enough. Mostly I strop my knives so they get a bit convex over time.
