OK guys I am really digging the threads and talking to WLJ4263 about Busse's. Now, I asked him earlier about wither or not he thought I had a chance to trade some production folders for a GW and I think he laughed at me through email, but this is neither here nor there. My question is... I was offered a Scrap Yard in a trade. Would I be going wrong with it? Whats up with SR-77? I don't know a lot about different steels but have heard mixed reviews. Please let me know. And sorry for all the back story but I just felt like giving you something to read. I guess I am really trying to get someone to talk me into getting a Scrap Yard to get started...

There's nothing wrong with the SR77 steel and the Yard is a great place to start your Busse collection. Be careful though, eventually the Infi bug will bite, and it bites hard. :D

SR77 is known for toughness
SR101 is known for taking and keeping a fantastic edge
Infi is the best combination of both that I know of

Which Scrapper are you looking to start with?

I'll send you an email if that's cool? Thanks for the help.

Why, I've got half a dozen Scrapyard knives right here with me. I'm perfectly happy with them. They are excellent knives.

"Tough as a Scrapyard Dog" is not hyperbole.:)

Yep, scrap yard makes a mighty fine product, and I own a few. In fact, I like several of them more than any Busse knife I own

:rolleyes:Well, there you have it. Not one, but two physicists.

Dan may now say: "Scrapyard Knives are Great -- physicists agree!"

[Assuming such a catch-phrase would have any practical value.:o]

One of my favorites I am not allowed to talk about yet, but the scrap muk and bdle are the best food prep blades I own apart from dedicated kitchen knives, and the son of dogfather is the best camp/backpacking knife for the weight in my eyes. The scrapper 5 le is also my favorite smallish belt knife, although it is made from infi so that's sort of cheating. In general, the scrap yard res-c handles, whether chopper sized like the SoD or the mudders on the smaller knives, are the most comfortable user handles I own

My Desert Dogfather is SR77 and sharper than 95% of my infi Busses - its easier for me to sharpen than infi and I love it Further, the rec-c handles are ridiculously comfy

My Scrapyard Scrapmuk (154CM) is fast becoming one of my favorite knives and I just got it today! Cant seem to put it down :D The "mudder" handle is my favorite out of all my knives except maybe my Fehrman.

Also, dont forget that Scrapyard offers the same awesome warranty as Busse proper

The Muk is a severely under-appreciate blade, in my eyes. 154CM with the magic heat treat out of Ohio does things that 154CM has no business doing. I baton the crap out of my Muk and it is no worse for wear.

154cm is a BUGGER to sharpen, though... even on a belt sander it's tough to work up a burr.

E = mc2 = INFInity

Looks like Skunk's been inhaling the exhaust from the atom smasher again.:D

There's just no controlling that boy.

I have had a Scrapyard Dumpster Mutt LE that I have been using since I started my INFI addiction a couple of years ago, and I have no complaints. I use to think that it was a sin to make a Busse knife a user. Now that I am older and wiser, I know that the real sin is buying a Busse and not using it.

You really can't go wrong with ANY of the Busse Group knives!;)

Dan Busse and Scrap Yard DO hold the title of "Superior Performance to Price Ratio" !!! :D:thumbup::thumbup: Gotta' love that Scrap Yard!:D

Dan does a GREAT JOB:)

but you gotta love the INFI and lets face it....WE LOVE IT:)

I LOVE ALL OF THE BUSSE GROUP:)

and I just placed a order for the WAKI well about a day ago  from Swamp Rat cause they are almost gone .......and that Waki...kicks some a## not Busse A##..................but close:eek: :p
