Just wondering how many Busse fanatics are also into custom knives? If you do like customs, what and who do you like most???

Yeah, the Busse Custom Shop,

probably not what you ment though.

My edc and most of my favorites are from the shop.

I collected customs before I got really involved with Busse. Wally Hayes and Daniel Winkler are a couple of my favorites. Used to collect custom tactical folders (Onion, Crawford, etc.) Still have several of them in the safe.

I use to collect blades from Michael "Tinker" Pearce, but only have a Scramasax and Dirk left. I prefer functional and now I'm an INFIholic. I do intend on eventually acquiring a Daniel Koster WSK and an Airkat TORK NVTR. Other than those, I have 2 customs I want from Busse. I gotta get rid of my collection of kids and bills first though.:D

Busse's and old early CRK's one piece from South africa..I likey! OH and my new MR. MEFO, YES!!!!!

Krein
Primos
Neilson
Dervish

i'm a big fan of tomoyuki nemoto's work, as well as pretty much anything by blackwood. i like the look of siberts stuff as well as beggs, but they arent really knives i'd like to use myself.

i do enjoy the thickness of custom HI's knives :D my 9/16" bhutan sword is one of my favorite peices... (specifically sher and amtrak (and just below that bura's work (his is always the highest grade of fit and finish))

stylistically i LOVE guldan's work. by far the most automatically recognizable peices i've seen. beggs, blackwood, tai goo and a few others are in the same catagory (where you instantly know who made it without seeing a name on it), but guldan is in a class of his own style wise.

Burt Foster's smaller (under 6") knives- beautiful & functional

I have a number of customs..... okay. a small number, but I've got a couple early Hansons, siegals, one Broadwell, one Bradshaw, a couple of DDRs, one RJ Martin flipper..... simonich midtech raven, bitteroot, a Camerer bowie, and a few others. All cool looking stuff that I really enjoy and got really good deals on! I also really like Jim Siska's stuff, but never got around to actually buying one.

I'm quite new -- only recently became a piglet (thanks, Progunner!).

However, I've slowly collected custom pieces of various sorts over the years. A few custom Colts and Smiths...a few commissioned oil paintings...a 'customized' and barely street legal car.

First caught the knife bug from a local smith who refers to himself as "Little John" (nothing little about his skills as a knifemaker). After months of study and some help from Forumites, I'm slowly saving so I can commission knives from among this group of gifted makers: Dan Winkler, Don Hanson, Jim Siska, C. Persson, M. Lovett, Joe Kious...and a few others (the more I learn, the more my tastes develop).

I like large, fixed blades but the virtues of a well-made folder are starting to grow on me.

My current EDC is a Ritter RSK MkI.

I have a Dozier and that is it for now.... but there are two on the way from Busse.

I think I'd like to acquire one folder from each of the following makers over the next two or three years:

Dozier
R.J. Martin
Scott Cook (and a fixed blade)
Rick Hinderer
Darrel Raplh
And I have seen some Bob Lum stuff I'd like to own.
OH and a folder from Busse

I coming around to thinking that I'd end up with less money tied up in knives but just getting what I want (like these folders and Busses) rather than owning 100 Spydercos & Benchmades.

Are Randalls, Ruanas, and Chris Reeves considered custom or production? If custom, then they are my other choices.

Also, lately I've been buying a few from new, up and coming makers here on the forums, and at my favorite knife store in Freeport, Me.

Here's a link to their website. http://www.freeportknife.com/

They're about 1 mile past LL Bean heading north on Rt1, but on the other side of the street. They're right across the street from the McDonalds that they tried to make not look like a McDonalds. A little pricey, but what isn't in Freeport! I'm about 2 1/2 hours north of Freeport, but travel through there about once a month. I've got family in Mass.

Thanks for the info Scott, I know right where it is:thumbup: I'll check it out the next time I'm up there.

sorry 2 hijack the tread guys.:o :D

The guys who work there are real helpful. Nick is a young knifemaker with alot of talent. He usually has a few knives on display. I've bought a few trying to help him out. Their site is pretty lame, but the store is OK. They have alot of of Chris Reeve's stuff and other customs too. Good luck.
