The AK is lighter than the FFBM by about 8 ounces. I had to take off my glove using the AK because the handle is just a little small for me to grip with gloves on. Performance are very good for the FFBM and AK. This was more fair due to the FFBM and AK being about the same length, 16" for the FFBM to 16.5" for the AK.

Another great vid! Nice to see a size comparison and a chopping comparison for those two knives!

Thanks guys. :D

I figured it would be more even between those two. :D

Great video Ankerson.

It looks like the FFBM is much more stable while chopping. Is it the handle shape or the Khukuri blade that makes the Chiruwa glance off the log?

The Handles a little too small for my big hands on the 16.5" AK so I don't get a really solid grip on this one (Like the BWM :foot:). I don't use the smaller Khurkies very often like I do the 18" AK, the handle is perfect for me on that one.

That wood is extremely hard until I get into the middle, I mean really, really hard to chop through.

The only reason I used it in the video was because it was closer to the FFBM in size.

Once the NMFBM gets here I will use the 18" AK again in the next video because it's closer in size and it's pretty close to the Busse KZ weight wise.

Should be this week.

Can't wait to see your NMFBM video. Thanks:thumbup:

From what I hear it should do very well. :)

It will be a 2 part chop off because I will chop all the way through the log with the NMFBM and 18" AK. :D

Then I will do a CHop off between the FFBM and NMFBM too. :)

Yeah, I still haven't taken out my new CG NMFBM but I will soon.

I don't know what I really have to compare it to though.

My streaming on the video lags way behind the voice track ..... so which one won ? It would be helpful if you could give a verbal report because some of us have poor internet service ... thanks

If you are comparing knives then so long as everything is the same it does'nt really matter .... but without wanting to come across wrongly ... a tip I was given on chopping logs is that you cut deeper if you start the cut by measuring out the depth of the log with the knife and then notch the wood left and right to represent starting points to create a "V" ....cuts then should go in at 45 degrees which is the most efficient angle for chopping against flat grain.... :)

Thanks for the video.

Are the handles on the AK's completely round? It's hard to tell from the pics/video.

It was pretty much even on that one. :)

Yes they are round. :)

Ankerson : when you chop wood (with a Khuk or a Busse), do you have a preference between an handle with slabs or a full piece of horn ?

I am more in to comfort really. :D

I like the solid handles on the Khurkies, that is big handles because I have big hands.

I like the Fusion Handles on the Busses the best, almost all Busses are slabs.
