Ok, dont crucufy me over this question. I am new here so i need some learnin'. What are the specific differences between , battle grade, combat grade etc. I can assume what it is but id like to know exactly.
I have 3 Busses with two more on order, and a Swap Rat, and yes i have caught the fever,i want more!
Thanks in advance for any help on this matter

Battle Grade is made from SR101 and Combat Grade is made of INFI. BG and CG both have coating. I`m sure more knowledgeable members can add to this.

Hit the nail on the head. I'll add that there are Limited Editions, wich I've come to understand are:

Numbered
Most are satin and thus, uncoated

Are they out of Infi? Love the fact that these knives are coming back but the allure is the steel to me.

I don't for a moment think they are out of INFI, the Battle Grade releases were explained by Jerry as a way to deliver some of the classic designs at an affordable price, look at them as a "gateway drug". That, and linking it neatly with Operation 2 Weeks makes sense, if they were all INFI releases the numbers sold would be significantly lower, this is a GREAT way to generate significant end of year revenue as well as well as a great way to "feed the beast" so to speak. I for one would not have been able to play at the rate I have if it was all at INFI prices (the Battle Saw is of course INFI and sweeeeeet).

"Battle Grade" is what Busse's been calling some recently released knives in SR-101 steel rather than INFI.

"Combat Grade" is what Busse typically calls their regular offerings that aren't "Limited Editions."

"Limited Editions," are typically (if not always) satin finished blades offered for a limited time as a regular offering from Busse.

"Competition Grade" was something that was offered on a few knives several years ago. These knives were basically straight out of the oven, without the decarb removed. Later on, they were offering "Competition Finish", which had the decarb removed, but were otherwise unfinished bare metal blades. By "unfinished," I mean not satin or Double Cut. Competition Finish is no longer offered, even as a special order.

"BIG Satin" (Busse Industrial Grade Satin) is a finish that was offered recently on a few blades in special offers. It's a rougher satin finish, and priced accordingly.

There are also military overruns that are occasionally offered, as well as other variants and custom shop blades. These are typically available at shows and "ganzaaas" A ganzaaa is a first-come-first-served free-for-all that you can read more about through the search function.

Or at least that's my understanding from hanging around here for almost a decade.

I hope something special is cooking. I've got ash's, battle mistresses, team geminis and SFNO's.. knifes like a hell razor and standard AA's in Infi are why I come back...make it sumpin' good!

You sound exactly like me (in a good way) and good thing you asked the question since I was wondering the same thing, oh and I notice this is your number one post? You really got the fever at atmospheric levels man! Can't wait to see what you've got coming!

Edgbar,

Have no worries, the Hogs don't give anybody a hard time when they're trying to learn.

Well....except during ganzaas. Porkers like new folks to learn hard lessons during ganzaas.

Well Done John!!! Just need to add the regular plain SATINS. These are the one that often time show up at shows etc. There are basically the same knife as an LE just not S/N'ed and they have the Regular Busse Logo.

THANKS!
for the responses. I now have a better understanding. Yep, i came across Swamp Rat casually during an internet due diligence marathon. I ordered one. I liked it, i forgot, i have 2 Swamp Rats not one, lol. I am sure you know the rest. One thing leads to another. Busse Group, great products, great marketing and great forum members. What's not to love?
Again, thanks for the responses.

Gateway drug, indeed! Started with Swamp Rat. 4 Rats later, an Infi Hell Razor II. As of right now, an Infi ABM is on its way! Lol
