Busse handle reconfig

Recently I bought myself a real nice fbm (Thank you Liu Kang!) and have been putting it through some real hard use. The only problem I can find with it is the magnum handles. I know some of you guys enjoy the chunkiness and tork of these handles, but to me they are just too big. They inhibit the use of the knife (not EXTREMELY though, as it is still higly usable) and feels a bit uncomfy. I was just wondering if there is something I could do to the scales themselves to make them better for me, or if I could change the handles into regular sized handles in some way (the most desired).

I'm not sure if this guy can remove pinned handles and replace them with new ones, but you could ask...
DEAL SPOTTING REMOVED. That clown was banned from here for good reason. I would not refer anyone to him and you should not either while on this forum.
He does great folder work, but I've never seen him do a fixed blade b4. You should checK him out!

Busse could do a scale swap.

OR.....the cheap way....

If having grooves in the micarta isn't a big deal (some of them cause heat spots, some don't), take some 100 grit sandpaper (maybe 60 to start off with) and go to town on them. You'll get a hand smooth finish and your scales will be thinner (but it will take a while so it's something to do when you're bored and have a lot of free time)

One other thing to remember is that when sanding on micarta or G-10, DON'T breath the dust. Wear a mask and I would do it outside so the dust dosen't settle in the house. Hand sanding can and will give you the desired look and feel it sound like your after, but like M67 said, you can send it back to Busse and they can change out the mags and put standards on. Easy enough!!!

I've also tried sanding tigerhide micarta with wet/dry sandpaper under the tap to remove/wash away the dust and see the color patterns more clearly while I work.

The worksharp does a nice job smoothing and reshaping micarta and G-10.

Clamp the blade down and work it over with a rasp or file then sand it down to say 220 or 320 grit sandpaper. Then a little oil to bring out the color. Do it yourself and be sure it willfitv your hand :)
