HEY EVERYONE. I CURRENTLY OWN A MISSION KNIVES MPK10 IN A2 STEEL. I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A BUSSE BUT NEED SOME DIRECTION. I WANT A 5" - 6" KNIFE FOR OVERALL OUTDOOR USE ( CHOPPING, HUNTING, CAMPING, ETC. ). WHAT MODEL SHOULD I LOOK FOR TO BUY BASED ON MY NEEDS? ALSO, IS A 3/16" THICK BLADE HEAVY DUTY ENOUGH FOR CHOPPING ? PLEASE EMAIL YOUR REPLIES TO:

rooter1028@sbcglobal.net

I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR INPUT

THANK YOU
JR

Get a BATAC:thumbup: They are available at great prices on the exchange

My favorite outdoor knife in the 6" range is the Satin Jack. The SJTAC can still be found in various configurations (mole jack, etc) on the exchange forum.

Mine is an old school Straight Handle Satin Jack in 3/16 and has chopped and been batoned through wood no problem.

The Badger Attack Tac which was just offered is in the 5" range is also a fantastic knife, very handy. You should be able to find more of them because it was a more recent release.
(BTW your caps lock key is stuck)

4 important things:

1. Infi is addictive.
2. There is no cure
3. There is only relief with each "fix"
4. NO REGRETS!

:D

To answer your question, I would expect that the Busse Company Store will have BATACs at some point in the near future, so if you can wait there is that option. Failing that, the Busse exchange forum is full of stand up people that are great to buy from!

BATACs are very reasonably priced right now, but a Natural Outlaw would be the way to go if you want to do a little chopping. I'd stick with 1/4" for an all-arounder including potential chopping...

Another vote to be patient and wait for the SH1A. It's just big enough to be put into the "chopper" category.

If you just gotta have one now though, look for:

Hell Razor
SJTAC
SFNO (good luck there ;) )

BATACs will hit the Company Store (www.bussecompanystore.com) in the not too distant future. That too might be an option.

The MPK10 in A2 is a beast of a knife. I've never had even the slightest problem with mine. All of the Mission blades are top flight. If you have the cold cash and just feel the need for a Busse product, there are plenty for sale. You could, on the other hand, get a Mora 2000 and a hand axe by Fiskars and invest the rest in gasoline. Some solutions are far less sexy but make better practical sense.

I have owned MPK's in the past and my MPK Ti was an outstanding knife. I have no doubt that the A2 would be equally suitable for anything needed.

I have to agree with Stubai here. If you already have a big knife, then go with a much smaller knife. Unless you want to buy three. :D I would look for a Game Warden or AD or MS to fill the bill, much tougher than a Mora, but much more expensive as well. For the Money a Mora is hard to beat.

But if you do wish to get a Busse mid Size, the BATAC or the new SH1 comming may fit the bill.
